Ha, ha, ha,   I had a conversation with my son just yesterday,, he was moaning and groaning about the daylight savings time thing.  I told him, with all that is going on in the world changing you time one hour either way is a crises!!  I has never bother me either way,, it is one hour.. come on.  I know the history. I know it does not mean much any more.   But people there are bigger fish to fry!!  What gets me is, as FedEx pilot his hours of work are all over the place.  Like a railroad worker They do not know their work schedule from day to day, where they are going or when they will be back. Yet he worries daylight savings time?  Give me a break!!!😝.  My lab doesn't care as long as he is fed, why should anyone else....?!

I realize you are right but it's the insanity of forcing millions of people to go through their homes and businesses setting and re-setting all of their clocks for absolutely no valid reason other than they say we must. B.S.

Really? have you never heard of tradition!?   To me as a MARINE, that carries a whole lot of weight.. something our country needs to pay a whole lot more attention to!  And really this is not an important one,  but we are currently giving up so many,, Maybe each one we give up becomes more important!   Delete my post if it is too much.

This is one tradition that needs to go away.

An old Indian chief commented on DST saying that only the white man could cut a foot off a blanket and sew it to the other end to make it longer.

Exactly. It makes no sense at all.

Well, for me, When I leave for work I drive east for a bit. . . So the sun is right in my eyes, but in a few weeks it's high enough to not be a problem. . . .

THEN

Let's switch the time . . . .and I get to go through that sun in my eyes all over again. . .

I love it.  😉

So the real answer is that perhaps the Fed should fund a program to make clocks, that change automatically, available for everyone.  🤔

That sounds like an idea the gummint could latch onto. Instead of simply doing away with DST. We, here in AZ ,have never bought into that silliness and nobody got sick or was even slightly inconcenienced.😉

And then there are time zones - My wife and I did a 5,000 mile road trip starting in Colorado and huge circle, crossing several states.  Kept going into and out of central and mountain time zones as I recall.  Almost missed an event because of that.  Luckily the radio was on and the announcer mentioned the time, which tipped us off to move a little faster.

This does not need to be a federal government thing.  It is a State's choice, as it should be.  leave the power to the states.  Look at Arizona.  Look not what the federal government can do for you.  You have more power at the state level.  Ask you farmers how they feel.  California, as my state, farming is a huge industry.  It was originally set up for their benefit. Ask them if it no longer benefits them.  If not get your state to change.  It took me less than 10 minutes to change every clock in my house.. I will live through the trauma!  There, to me are bigger fish to fry!!  And with that, I close.  Just my opinion, I am on my way to start a new scroll saw project.  Have not got "time" for this argument!😆

Back in 2017 or 18 we did a state ballot issue on just that. It passed overwhelmingly by 66% of the ballots cast. The issue is stuck in our F'd up state legislature. They can't seem to be able to pull their heads out long enough to see what the folks want. Very sad. This state is so backward when it comes to basic common sense, I just want to scream.

There are clocks available, for as low as $10, that receive a radio signal and adjust themselves to it .

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/how-do-some-clocks-set-themselves-119830601/

A local farmer who runs a corn maze and pumpkin patch told me that not having DST would close his business down, the extra hour of daylight allows families to come out during the week, instead of having to wait for the weekend.

Now that I'm retired it doesn't mean anything to me. :)
