I spray the glue, attach the pattern, use a hard rubber roller to get a good bond; then wait at least an hour before scrolling or drilling holes. I found the pattern lifting if I tried anything before that time.

It's why I have several projects in play, at various stages, at any one time. :)

I, too, apply my patterns in advance of cutting and have several in the works at a time. Typically I'll work on a "general" piece until I get a commission. Then I'll prep the commission with the pattern and let it sit for a couple hours before starting the drilling and cutting. Once finished with the commission I'll return to the "general" piece.

If I do have a pattern that's trying to lift while I cut, I'll dab a touch of glue from a paste stick (like a chapstik or lipstick tube) and put it under the pattern where it's lifting. Most times using a dental tool to dab the paste glue under the pattern does the job.

If I have a pattern lifting, I will use a bamboo skewer to hold the pattern down and keep cutting.  I move the skewer along beside the blade, so it is holding the pattern down near the blade.  That way I don't have to take the time to paste it back down.  Also makes it easy to remove the pattern in that spot after cutting.🤣

Hummm... about 10 - 15 minutes.  Not saying I am right just saying what I do.. Any pattern lifting, I have experienced I blame on not having the wood clean enough, or missing something when I spray the pattern...Mostly not having the wood cleaned off enough...   Maybe I need to pay more attention.  If I have lifting I apply a little Elmers all purpose glue stick with an x-acto blade under what is lifting, or hold it in place with thin stick as @jollyred mentioned.  It has never kept me from scrolling on.

It depends on what spray adhesive you use. I use 3M 77 or 3M 45. I like the 3M 77 best. I don't wait any time other than when it takes to move from the area where I spray to the wood. I have a roller, but I don't generally use it for these adhesives. I usually apply it directly to the wood.

I have tried many different things to hold my patterns in place. If the pattern lifts while cutting, I don't use that adhesive again unless I have nothing else.

I use masking tape (found it works just as well as blue painters tape for half the price) and 3M77. Tape glue pattern drill cut. No wait, no lifting of the pattern, and it all pulls off easy when done. Less sanding to remove reside etc when using tape.  I would stay away from the loctite glue as well as the Krylon spray adhesive. Neither of these gives me the instant hold that I am looking for. Plus the loctite is horrible for gumming up at the nozzle.   Pattern will slide around or lift. I just tossed an entire can of the loctite spray glue. Hate that stuff

I use those full size adhesive labels with the pattern printed on it - placed on top of the clear shelf liner that's on the wood.
For those times when I have to use regular paper for a pattern, I'm using up what's left of a can of 3M77 and tape.
I have used Krylon's  Easy-Tack, Repositionable Adhesive 7020 in the past with no problems and will go back to that when the 3M77 can is used up.

My favorite adhesive is the Elmer's in a 4oz can. It fits my hand comfortably. The big 3m77 cans are just too big. I spray a very light mist on the pattern, let it almost dry, then apply it to the shelf-paper-lined wood. I picked up the tip of letting the glue dry almost dry from someone here on the village.
