Through the kitchen window…feeding frenzy before the big storm

It is bit shut they appear to be American Gold finch with winter colors.

There are a lot of them.  Are they there all the time or are they migrating?

They seem to be here year round. Why would they leave, they are well fed!

Bird have the instinct to predict when there is a storm brewing.  When we had our nasty storm a few weeks ago our birds went crazy stocking up at our feeders.  Now that the weather is nice and sunny and around 42f they ignore the feeders.

Our hummers have disappeared. We have one, we call him Cujo, that is here all the time but even he has flown the coop. So to speak.

At this point, we have received 1 inch of rain. Watching the new, it’s coming down pretty good all over Southern California. It’s supposed to rain all week. What that means for the rest of the country is these storms always head east and turn into larger storms.

Not looking forward to more rain right now.  Week before last we had ~8" of rain over a 4-day period.  It was so bad they even closed the golf course for 2 days!
