This is the next Intarsia piece on the table.  Pattern by Janet Square.  Used a #3 mg blade.  Aspen, poplar, walnut & mystery wood.

Thanks RJ.  I have been doing puzzles and other stuff in between.  I have a craft sale next month.

Lookin’ good! I really like the shaping and forming of the petals and leaves. (Notice I didn’t say sanding. )

Glue up is done!  

Bit of cleanup tomorrow and finish.  (I hope)

Then backer and done!

What are you planning for a backer?

The main flower just catches the eye. Because of the cupped petals.  Very good work.

The plan calls for tracing then gluing to the (very small) backer.  I am nervous about having a smaller backer.  It is very fragile.  Some of the joints could have been a little tighter. 

I had some longer live edge slabs I was looking at, but they are too narrow.  That being said, I will revisit and see if the would work now that it is glued up.  Heading out to a store today and will see if there is anything that might work.

Thanks.  I was trying to cup them a bit more, but got scared of screwing it up too much!

That's kinda where my mind went, mounting to a lice edge slab for the reasons you mentioned about a thin backer being fragile.

Glued up to backer.  Just need to put the finish on.  I think I will do three coats of shellac because it will flow easily into the nooks & crannies.
