This is a Steve Good pattern I cut. I like these and want to make some that have people's names on them with a word that is something they like on the other side. I think I can make patterns easily as long as the word is the same length, but what if I have a five-letter name and want the other word to be 6 or seven characters? Can it be done? If it can be done how?

Hi BadBob I have done it and it worked great. One side was four letters and the other side was six letters. I lined up the pattern so the top letters matched on each side and put an oval under the shorter name. I’m sure you could put any design under the short word, as long as both sides are equal in height and width.

That's a good idea! I need to develop a shape that is easy to cut but doesn't look like a letter.

Good idea. A heart should work well.

On my computer as a system font is "webdings" a collection of various clipart as a font, including a heart.

The website Dafont you can search for "dingbats" and there are 77 fonts that are collections of various clipart genres.

The advantage is you can just type in what you want and "resize" with the point size. If your word processor allows, you can format the font to outline mode and have a ready to cut image. :)
