OCtoolguy Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 What has happened to Coffee House? There used to be lots of stuff to read but now it's nothing but Wordle. Might as well change the heading. danny, MarieC and kmmcrafts 3 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 I rarely get out of the "general scroll saw" section on here but from time to time I do wander into a different room.. I'm not a wordle person but it doesn't bother me either.. probably because I rarely get out of the general section anyway. I did used to look at the cartoons etc. once in a while but never was a daily thing for me. I feel like in general the village has been slow on topics this year but probably everyone just been busy with vacations and life things. I've not posted much because I've not been scroll sawing.. been really busy but mostly playing with laser and cnc projects and they are offensive to show those type projects here so I just check in daily to see if anyone is posting projects or need help with something. JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 I have no idea what wordle is. Take a close look at the membership here. It is peanuts. That is why nothing is going on. You have your basic same people who carry a site and few new members chime in. It happens on all sites. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
rjweb Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 Yes things are quiet, maybe more people are going the laser route, doesn't seem to be many new members, RJ kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
ChelCass Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 Also there are several woodworking, scroll saw groups on facebook. I check in here every morning and again late afternoon. OCtoolguy, kmmcrafts and barb.j.enders 3 Quote
jerry walters Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 (edited) You know what? I'm 84 years old, coming up on 85 in 3 more moths. I find wordle helps keep my mind sharp before I lose it all. Wordle also helps be understand scroll saw pattern instructions. If you don't understand what I'm saying, guess I'm beginning to lose it. Gotta have some fun in life. Also helps me keep in contact with my fellow wordle players. Jerry Edited November 5, 2024 by jerry walters JackJones, kmmcrafts, barb.j.enders and 1 other 4 Quote

Gotta have some fun in life. Also helps me keep in contact with my fellow wordle players. Jerry Thanks Jerry. My thing is crossword puzzles. I do at least 3 every day and sometimes I can wade through the N.Y Times puzzle. Not on Friday, Saturday or Sunday though. Those are just too tough for me. It doesn't mean that I don't try them though. I totally understand everybody doing the "wordle" thing but it has taken over what used to be a place for many different subjects that weren't "wood" related. I found it interesting sometimes. Now, it's just not the same old SSV. I do know that we have lost many of the folks that I used to look forward to reading. I truly miss Rockytime. He and I struck up a friendship without ever meeting. kmmcrafts and barb.j.enders 2 Quote

I'm on many of those groups but I just can't get past the lousy layout or format of how the groups work on FB.. seems the messaging and replies get sorted all out of whack and you miss a bunch of it unless you follow every posting topic etc.. That and so many people post the exact same stuff across many different groups so you see the same thing 30 times and many times it's also the same people replying the same thing across the different groups.. so to me they're not worth paying any attention too unless there is nothing better to do for several hours and feel like reading the same stuff over and over there is no better place than the Village in my opinion. Dan Posted November 5, 2024 Report Posted November 5, 2024 If it weren't for wordle the coffee house would be a ghost town. I don't think wordle has anything to do with people not posting more at the coffee house. We seem to have lost Amazing Kevin and Jerry. Both use to post often here. barb.j.enders, OCtoolguy, JackJones and 3 others 5 1 Quote

barb.j.enders Posted November 6, 2024 Report Posted November 6, 2024 While having my morning coffee, I check in here first and then FB. I belong to a few FB groups where there are lots of members from here as well. I tend to only be here in the morning. I will check into FB throughout the day. It seems to be easier on my phone, which is what I have handy during the day. SSV is also on FB. Quote

No need to apologize and you're not the only person doing that either.. IF anything maybe I should just remove myself from several of the groups.. even so I still do not care for the layout and format of the groups in general so I just don't pay any attention to the groups on FB.. and if really bored I can go look through them from time to time.. usually if I'm board at all I look at marketplace anyway.. mostly what I use FB for.. and my business page barb.j.enders and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
