Scrappile Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 (edited) I hope California members are safe from the fires. @OCtoolguy you safe? Do we have other members in that area? Edited January 10 by Scrappile OCtoolguy, barb.j.enders and Scrolling Steve 2 1 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 My prayers for all affected. I hope that all our members are safe. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted January 10 Report Posted January 10 I think he is far enough away that he wasn't affected. He is in Thousand Oaks and that's farther North. But, the winds might have blown his way. barb.j.enders 1 Quote

Thanks for your concern Paul. Barb and I are safe. We are about 50 miles away and farther South nearer the ocean. But, as you saw in Malibu, The ocean doesn't do much good. It does serve to stop the fire going farther West. danny, kmmcrafts, barb.j.enders and 1 other 4 Quote

The electric company turns the power off to help prevent fires. We were without electricity for four days and nights. Fortunately I bought a generator last year. We are able to power the refrigerator, a few lights and the entertainment center and internet. Unfortunately, more winds are expected in the next few days. kmmcrafts, Scrappile, danny and 4 others 5 2 Quote

It would be great if they would clear the dead stuff under the lines when the power is off. All that fuel waiting for a spark Edited January 12 by OCtoolguy kmmcrafts 1 Quote
Wichman Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 This is a very sticky subject for a brief history here it is from the horses mouth. This is not a partisan issue, but I predict a shift in Forest service policies. https://foresthistory.org/research-explore/us-forest-service-history/policy-and-law/fire-u-s-forest-service/u-s-forest-service-fire-suppression/ Quote
