Dan Posted November 7, 2025 Report Posted November 7, 2025 (edited) It looks like you're on the way to a good repair. When you're done, the only one to notice the repairs will be you. Nice pattern, btw. Edited November 7, 2025 by Dan barb.j.enders and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
Scrappile Posted November 7, 2025 Report Posted November 7, 2025 Sorry that happened, but it does happen. I had a similar occurrence When I cut this moose picture. I stacked cut two. Somehow I did not get the pattern centered on the wood so when I finished cutting the pattern I had more boarder on one side than the other. Decided to even it up by cutting a little off of one side on my table saw. Was working fine when all of a sudden the piece "Blew up" into tiny pieces. I had to just vacuum it up and put it in the garbage. Lucky I still had this copy, OCtoolguy, Allen levine and barb.j.enders 2 1 Quote

Allen levine Posted November 7, 2025 Author Report Posted November 7, 2025 (edited) nah, Ive been woodworking for almost 20 years, had 2 lathes, so bad words were common. besides, I listen to the 12 year olds in public, they teach me new ones I havent heard. the cracks still show in outer frame of spanish cedar but my wife says people might think its part of the pattern..... she wouildnt let me hang my clown up anywhere where the kids would see it....I was forced to hang it in my office upstairs. she said its too scary...and that was the point. what I did learn since joining this site, is that even though there are tons of cutting errors on this piece, they really arent errors, or mistakes as I call them, they are now modifications....I like that, learned it here Edited November 7, 2025 by Allen levine Scrappile, OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 2 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted November 7, 2025 Report Posted November 7, 2025 (edited) Nice save! I've noticed that things I thought were the worst of swear words, use only only on the most drastic of occasions, are now just everyday common language! In my young day had I said some of them I would have to have eaten a whole bar of soap! Needless to say my Mom living with three sons and a husband, went through a lot of bars of soap. barb.j.enders Posted November 8, 2025 Report Posted November 8, 2025 Sorry it happened. I am with your wife on the look. Unless you know, you don't. It does look like the wood grain. It looks lovely in the thicker wood with the walnut background. Very nice. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Fab4 Posted November 8, 2025 Report Posted November 8, 2025 Hi Allen: We all know that eventually "it happens". When it does we change the look by adding character to the design it now becomes a one of a kind and heaven forbid someone orders one like the one you just made... Totally agree about words or phrases used when "it" happens. Even the most mild mannered woodworker has a melt down once in awhile Great save as suggested above Fab4 OCtoolguy 1 Quote

And he would incorporate them into his paintings. Just like with scrolling. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Richard Hotchkiss Posted November 9, 2025 Report Posted November 9, 2025 Allen Even with repairs it still looks great, you're the only one that will ever know. Beautiful work! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
BadBob Posted November 11, 2025 Report Posted November 11, 2025 Make your errors look like part of the design. Quote
