bradynjonesjr Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Bauer 22" is scrollsaw. I have a dewalt 788 I've used for for 15 years and no problems. Then one day it went south. Replaced the pc board, motor brushes, MOTOR, wiring harness, practically every electrical. No luck. Still have it so one day maybe. 2 years ago I think. Was in harbor freight to pick up wheel barrow parts and saw the bauer 22". Parallel arm, tilting head, etc. Didn't buy it then. Looked up reviews when I got home and saw a few here on scrollbar village. Thought what the heck and picked one up the following week. That was 2 years ago. All I can say is wow. This is absolutely a top line saw. Runs smoother than old yellow ever did, plenty of room on the table, and parts can be found on Bucktool extremely inexpensive. Advise to change blade holders from pegas but the ones from the factory work fine if you treat them right. Wants to jump a little when you get above 7 but not enough to cause problems. I've been scrolling for about 26 years and I can honestly say that I haven't enjoyed this much in quite a while. $268 is the purchase price then and I haven't regretted it one bit. I swore I'd never buy a power tool from this store but I have pleasantly eaten my crow. Thanks for the reviews I read here. I'm sorry it took so long to post this, but I have to say that if your old faithful takes a dump or if you are new to the ART, the limb won't break when you step on it. Thank you for reviewing this saw. barb.j.enders, OCtoolguy and ChelCass 2 1 Quote
Bill WIlson Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 Thanks for the update. It's good to hear from someone with a considerable amount of time on this saw. I too have historically given the side eye to Harbor Freight power tools, but have to admit, they seem to have significantly upped their game and kept prices reasonable. I have a 3 yr old Dewalt and a 2016 Excalibur, so I don't anticipate ever needing to buy another scroll saw, but if I did, I'd have to think long & hard as to why I shouldn't get the Bauer. Denny Knappen Posted Friday at 02:47 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:47 PM Thanks for the review. I have only one customer purchase the Pegas Chuck Head Set from me and put it on the Bauer with no problems. bradynjonesjr and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

OCtoolguy Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM Report Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM (edited) I have many of the Bauer power tools. Both corded and battery. So far all have served me well. I'm happy to hear good things coming from a home-grown success story. If any of you folks get the chance, read the history of H/F. One owner, no shareholders to answer to. They've come a very long way from the cheap stuff that got them their bad rap. If they ever put trucks out on the road, the mobile tool sellers will be in big trouble.
