Actually folks this is the wave of the future.  This is the size of a postage stamp.  It is a 10 watt Light Emitting Diode Cluster and when 12 volts dc at 1 amp are applied to it this device shines like a 60 watt incandescent light bulb, without the heat.  I have made up a light for my scroll saw to replace the hot incandescent one that was on it.  This light will last about 10 - 12 years or more.

Wow! These have been around for 12 years?... Where have I been?

No these LED clusters are relatively new... like perhaps 3 years or less.  Only recently have they become cost effective.
