Yesterday morning my father had a mini stroke. He's getting all his words mixed up, he knows what he wants to say but it comes out all wrong. I took him to the doctors yesterday and he's got a hospital appointment tomorrow at 9am. Your prayers would be much appreciated

You are in our prayers. My mother-in-law had a mini stroke several years age. She had the same troubles saying what she was thinking. Her sense if humor helped her along as we made a game trying to figure out what she was trying to say. If we guessed it she would yell "Bingo!".

A teacher friend of mine had a major stroke about 4 weeks ago. His speech is coming back slowly but he really has to concentrate on what he wants to say. He is home now and all of his therapists visit him at home to work with him.  But I must tell you a funny story about my girlfriends Mum who had a stroke many years ago.  Her speech never returned except for swear words and she swore like a trooper :curse:  the funny part was she was very prim and proper before the stroke and didn't swear at all, but they were the only words we could understand the rest we had to play charades. The staff at any hospital she went to after that thought she was speaking Gaelic because she had a Scottish accent.    :o

I truly hope your dad comes out of this alright Keith he will be in my prayers and thoughts, so will you.

Very, very sorry to hear about your Dad Keith. Be strong and be there for him, he'll need you, and all of us up here in Scotland are praying that both  you and the family come through this. Take care and stay strong. Keep us up to date.

Thanks all you guys and gals, your prayers must be working, he has regained about 60% of his speech already (and thats in the first week) He will still need speech therapy, but the doctors think he should make a 95 to 100% recovery.
Thanks everyone, I couldn't ask for a better family than I have found here

Keith.
