Those turned out awesome. My Uncle would love the cowboy. He has his house decorated in a old west motif. But that Red Cloud portrait is by far my favorite. I just love the look in his eyes. If you ever decide you'd like to share your patterns, I'm sure there would be a lot of very happy scrollers eager to cut them.
  2. I think this is the thread you were looking for. Lots of great ideas there. Its fun to read over.
  3. I'm embarrassed to say I don't have a maintenance schedule at all. I wax the bed only when needed, which isn't very often. I only vacuum the dust out when it gets unbearable or when I have the urge to tidy up my work-area. I'll use the air compressor to blow out the dust once in a great while. But for the most part, I don't really do anything to the saw. She's held up pretty well with my neglect.

Hi Ron. Welcome to the Village. We're glad you found us. That's a great cutting. I really love the scrollwork in the engine. Nicely done. You should create a User Gallery and put a copy there (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]). Beautiful work like that is certainly something to be proud of. Anyway, welcome aboard. Jump on in and have some fun.

  7. Kubb is a Swedish lawn game where you knock over wooden blocks with a baton. It looks like a lot of fun, but I haven't played it yet (hence the need to build the game). It looks pretty easy to make. I'm going to buy a 4x4 this weekend and make one up. I'll post a pic when I get it done. You can find a bit more info here.
  8. What a crazy week this has been. Work has been nuts, plus we had company all week. I'm sure glad its the weekend. I was looking forward to getting to play with the saw this weekend. I'm not sure if I'll find time, though. I'm need to make a crosscut sled for my table saw so I can cut scroll saw blanks eaiser (I'm running low). Plus I have a game called Kuub I need to make for a friend. So the scroll saw might not see any love this weekend. Anybody have any scroll saw plans for the weekend? Maybe I can live vicariously through you!
  9. Welcome to the Village, Butch. We're glad you found us. Congrats on the new retirement. That should give you plenty of time to make some sawdust. We'd love to see some of your work. You can set up a User Gallery (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]) and show off a little. We love seeing other's work. Very inspiring. Anyway, welcome aboard. Jump on in and have some fun!
  10. You did an awesome job on that. Nicely done. How did you like the segmentation process? It looks like a lot of fun. I have an intarsia project (my first one) I have to get started working on again. After that, I'd like to try some segmentation. I can't wait to see your next segmentation project!
  11. You've asked for it, and here it is. Scroll Saw Village t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, stickers and more. You can find our swag under the Store tab. We currently have two designs available. The first one comes from our 2009 T-Shirt Design Contest winner, joscrolls! Congratulations to her, and she'll be receiving a sporty new SSV t-shirt of her winning design. The second design features a Barnes Velocipede Scroll Saw No. 2 produced in 1885. This is a simple design with a stylized picture of this vintage machine, along with Scroll Saw Village and the URL. Each design has a wide variety of color and size choice. Even shirts for the little scroller in your life. We also have hats, bags, coffee cups, steins, stickers, coasters, aprons, and so much more. All orders are fulfilled by Cafe Press, so you can expect great quality an service. I'll be including more designs whenever I get a chance. Until then, have some fun with out stylish new swag.
  12. That was fun to read. I'd like to see if I can hit up a car show before the end of the summer. Get some good pix of classic cars for some patterns. Plus my son would LOVE to see all those shiney cars...LOL. BTW, I really enjoy your car cuttings in your gallery.
  13. Hi Ronda! Welcome to the Village. We're glad you found us. You're about to embark on a very cool journey. You'll be amazed what this simple tool can do. Anyway, jump on in and have some fun!
  14. My goodness that looks tough! You did a nice job on it. I really like the stain you added. What kind of wood did you use? Nicely done!
  15. Thank you. We're off to a good start. We're looking for suppliers of hardwoods, plywoods, corian, and other scrolling materials. I think I'll be adding a Parts & Supplies list too. Anybody have anything they'd like to add? I'm looking for suppliers outside the US too.
  16. OK...you're hooked up. That's a really cool avatar. Have fun with it!
  17. Thanks for the suggestion. I just bought Easy-to-Make Whirligigs. I look forward to checking it out. I hope mine looks as nice as yours. It looks like a lot of fun!
  18. I could add the avatar for you if you'd like. Its a pretty quick process on my end. Do you prefer Wombat1 or Wombat2? Let me know and I'll hook ya up.
  19. GIMP will also do the trick. You can find it at gimp.org. After you're done cropping, you can use it to create scroll saw patterns!
  20. That turned out really cool. You have a real knack for car cuttings. Nicely done!
  21. Those are really cool. They look like a ton of fun to make, too. Which of Anders S Lunde's books would you recommend? I wouldn't mind trying to track one down and trying one myself. Great job on all of them. Nice way to recycle too. You should add this pic to your User Gallery too (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]. I think a lot of people would get a kick out of them.
  22. My only guess would be from the manufacturer. I'd shoot them an email with your inquiry. I also know Seyco carries their brand for quite some time. If nothing else, they'll know where to get the part you're looking for. You might be able to find parts from ebay too.
  23. I don't know much about wooden mechanical parts, but they look good to me. The only thing I can think of is to make the grain run slightly diaganal, perhaps? I think that might add a bit of strength to the joint. It would be less likely to break at the corners of the joint. But this is only a guess. I know with puzzles, I have to pay attention to grain direction to make sure the grain runs parallel to the delicate areas.
  24. Those turned out great! I really love the water wheel. Nicely done. Be sure to add those to your User Gallery too (you can find a [tut]tutorial here[/tut]). Those are certainly something to be proud of! Good Job!
