  1. Howdy All. I just upgraded SSV's software. As with any software upgrade, things will get a bit wonky as I set everything back. Let me know if something is broken or isn't behaving correctly. I know there's a number of things that I have on my list. I'm going to try to get things back to normal over the next few days. Hopefully, you won't notice most of them.
  2. I saw an announcement yesterday that the Scrollsaw Association of the World is closing their doors and dissolving their 501c. Were any of you members? I've looked at it many times, but I was never clear about what benefits it offered to members. I think they put together packets on how to start local clubs, with some support/listings. What else did they offer? Hate to see another scroll saw resource go. Is there something SSV can offer to help fill the void?
  3. @Foxfold I think you did it right if it's the same one I'm thinking of (https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/33260-charles-dearing-patterns/). You linked to the website where folks can download the pattern themselves. You didn't post the actual pattern. So you're OK.
  4. Howdy all. Just a reminder: Please do not share patterns you didn't specifically design yourself. Pattern designers go through a lot of work to make their patterns available for the rest of us to cut. As a matter of respect, we want to honor their right to control where and how their patterns are distributed. We also want them to receive appropriate credit for their work. Even if the pattern is free, doesn't mean the pattern designer isn't earning income off their designs. Feel free to link to a website where the requester can download the pattern themselves (please link to the website, not directly to the pattern). Thanks all!
  5. Spring is in the air and our furry little friends are coming out to play. This month's challenge is all about the critters in our lives. Share a project of bunnies, puppies, and anything else that make you saw "awww." Post your animal projects below. When you do, please tell us a little something about it. While we love seeing your handiwork, it's the backstory that makes it special. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
  6. Everybody likes to start the day with a laugh. But, just a reminder that when posting things that make you chuckle, please keep them appropriate to SSV and within the User Guidelines we all agreed to when signing up for SSV. Please be considerate of language, crudeness, politics, religion, etc. We all know what appropriate humor looks like. Thanks all!
  7. Howdy All. It's been a brutal winter, and I'm itching to get things done. I've been focusing on organizing the house and shop, lately. So I thought it would be fun to do some organizing projects. This month's scroll saw challenge is called Boxes, Bowls, & Trays. Basically, any kind of vessel, which could also include vases and other holders. Post a pic of boxes, trays, bowls, vases, pencil holders, totes, caddies, or whatever else you made to hold or organize stuff. It doesn't have to be completely done with a scroll saw, but a scroll saw should be involved in some way. Be sure to tell us a little about your project and what it was used for, or any other story that comes with the project (I love the story behind the project just as much as I like the project). Have fun! I can't wait to see what you come up with.
  8. Howdy All. I just wanted to let you know that I've updated the website to include an SSL certificate. Basically it turns SSV from a standard website to a secure website. Google changed their policy late last year, flagging websites that had HTTP as being potentially insecure. SSV was just fine because we don't host any sensitive information or do any credit card processing (that is done with a 3rd party...ie, PayPal and Stripe). But that silly little warning caused undue panic. At any rate, that has been solved and updated. You probably won't see any changes, other than the website now says https:// instead of http://. Everything should forward to the proper address and you shouldn't have to do anything special. Because we had to update the SSL, we had to update Facebook login and Twitter login. So if you use Facebook to login, you might have to log in again with Facebook and grant permissions to SSV to use Facebook to log into SSV. If you have FaceBook connected so that it updates your avatar and banner, you might have to reconnect. You can do that in your settings (https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/settings/login/?service=4) If you use Twitter, you shouldn't have to do anything. Let me know if you have any troubles with anything on the site or SSV isn't behaving the same way it used to. Also, let me know if you have trouble with any of the payment processors (PayPal or Stripe). Those had to be updated too, but that should be seamless. Thanks All!
  9. I can help. What do you need deleted? Can you link me to it?
  10. I removed this site from our Patterns Vendor's list. Let me know if it becomes an active site again and I'll restore the record.
  11. Checking his website again, I bet he sends it out manually. I'd still check your spam filter, just in case.
  12. I don't know how he has his website set up. But if it's automated, your pattern should arrive in your email inbox. I know sometimes when people buy my patterns, the email with the link to the pattern gets stuck in the spam filter. So be sure to check there, too.
  13. Howdy all. This is a reminder to keep things friendly. I think there was some misinterpretation of some of the posts. You can disagree, but please do so calmly and respectfully. This thread is getting a bit heated. I think Ray got the answer he was looking for. I'm going to lock this one down. Lets get back to talking about making some more sawdust!
  14. Unfortunately, I"m not a programmer. I do OK with modifying other people's code, but there's a lot of trial and error involved. I can look around for a solution. Maybe there's a plugin I can use. If you're a SSV Patron, you can bookmark posts and gallery images. The easiest way I found to bookmark a pattern is to right click on a picture and and choose Open Link In New Tab. That will take you a new pate and the screen will go dark and show the image. Just close that window with the big X in the corner, and that will show the image's home. Under the description is the Bookmark function. Click that and it will bookmark it for future reference. Then when you go to your profile, you'll have a list of your bookmarks.
  15. Hi All. You can do a search. After you do the search, you can refine by clicking More Search Options and choosing a specific section. In this case, it would be Images. This encompasses the Pattern Library as well as the User Gallery (They're basically the same software...Pattern Library it technically just a category of the gallery system). So if I was searching for this, my keyword would probably be "Pool" and the result would be here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/search/?q=pool&type=gallery_image Now, this is very dependent on how folks upload the picture or pattern. It'll search using the filename, title, description, or any other meta information provided with the image. If it's not labeled well, it won't find it. That's why I try to categorize the patterns. But some of those categories are pretty big...LOL. I hope this helps.
  16. This month, it's an easy one. Post your first project of 2019! "Out with the old, in with the new,"as they say. We don't want to see what you made last year; we want to see what you made in 2019. Fresh off the saw. When you post, tell us a little about it. Who did you made it for and for what reason? Or maybe a little backstory. Projects are nice to see, but it's the story that goes with it that makes it special. Here's to a productive 2019!
  17. Mine got easier as I used it for awhile. It should loosen up after a bit.
  18. Hi everybody. I just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas. Thank you for being a part of Scroll Saw Village. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I'm continually amazed at what you folks come up with. It is truly inspiring. I hope 2019 brings you happiness and everything you hoped for...and maybe a little extra shop time, too. Happy Holidays, everybody.
  19. The idea is to make sure the patterns reside in the Pattern Library. If they're only posted into the forum, they get buried pretty quickly and are hard to find. The Pattern Library is our main repository of patterns and organized into categories so it's easier to find a specific kind of pattern. You don't have to upload the pattern twice (in fact, it's better not to). In the New Pattern Announcements, you can post a link to the pattern you uploaded and the software will generate a preview link. For example: Alternatively, you can click the Insert Other Media button above the Submit Reply button, then choose Insert Existing Attachment. A popup window will appear. Click the Gallery Images tab and choose your picture. That will embed the actual file into the post so you don't have to re-upload. For example: Hope this helps.
  20. Hi All. This is a great thread with lots of great advice. I removed a couple posts that were a bit too aggressive, though. I just want to remind folks of the User Guidelines (a link found on every page of this website, and agreed to upon joining SSV): We all know what a friendly discussion looks like. So this policy shouldn't be a big surprise. Thanks all! Keep talking shop! That's what we're here for.
  21. Been wanting to cut a Nativity for quite some time. Finally got some time in my shop to get it done. This is Steve Good's pattern and made from some alder that @heppnerguy gave me. My wife and her friends really like a video game called Midnight Cinderella. I made some custom ornaments with some of the characters. The are thrilled with them. Here's a detail shot. Cut from 1/4" BB ply. The image is just printed onto copy paper. I also put some Christmas scrapbook paper on the reverse before cutting them out.
  22. The album has the right name. I think when I uploaded the first pic, it changed. But it was switched back
  23. Internet explorer has always been a problem with SSV because Internet Explorer isn't W3 compliant (basically the rules that govern the internet). Google Chrome and Firefox are much better with compliance and update on a regular basis. As a result, they have the newer technologies and treat the web formatting better than IE. I removed the pictures from your album description and put them inside the album. I added a step 7 in the instructions above for a little extra clarity. But it should do the trick. Let me know if you still have troubles.
  24. This scroll saw challenge is an easy one! Post a Holiday project! Ornaments for your tree, gift for a loved one, or decorations for your house. Whatever! While we love to see your projects, it's the stories behind the project that makes it special. So tell us a little bit about it. I can't wait to see what's on your saw this Holiday season.
  25. It looks to me like you uploaded the pictures to your album description, not to your actual album. I see 7 pictures in the description. So what you'll need to do: Go to the Gallery (http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/) Click Add Photos or Patterns Choose Use An Existing Album Select your album then click Use Selected Album Upload your pictures. Click on a picture to add additional information, such as title, description, pattern designer, etc. When you're done adding the information to each picture, click Submit All Images button in the bottom right corner. Let me know if you run into any troubles.
