  8. Thanks Realfez and Travis. No it's certainly not boring lately........I moved here to have boring lol. He's doing fine and I'm home and all is well for now. You just never know though. I'm not thrilled with living in tornado alley. But I've never been through one and don't care to start now. I don't even like watching those storm chasers on tv! My hubby is nuts for them..............he wants to do it too. They're all nuts...........hubby included. Christina

  14. Wednesday at 5am my BIL called...........he was having chest pains and couldn't breath. So we rushed over there.........he has twin 2 year olds so couldn't just call an ambulance. We got there and he was pretty bad. My husband took him to the hospital, right around the corner, while I stayed with the kids. He was admitted right away. He has pneumonia........one lung was completely accluded. So I have spent the last three days going back and forth from my house to theirs to take care of the kids. I also have a dog who rebroke his leg so I had to keep coming home to care for him and change is bandages. I did the day shift, only coming home to take care of buddy and feed all my critters............then my hubby stayed with the kids at night. I can't sleep laying down due to my back and respiratory problems. And there is no where for me to sleep right there..............he doesn't have a couch, just a love seat........way too small lol. My hubby is only good for a couple hours with kids unless they're asleep lol. They discharged my BIL late this afternoon...........WOOHOO! So now just have to go over to check on him. I cannot tell you how good it is to STAY HOME! He doesn't have internet so I have been going through withdrawals too........I could only check on my group quickly everyday. So now I'm doing a marathon sitting trying to catch up on everything I missed with all of the groups I belong too....................aw pure heaven! We also had a bit of drama.............tornadoes hit Oklahoma pretty bad the other night. Luckily we only got the severe thunderstorm ourselves. But just 26 miles away one touched down and did some damage in Pawnee City (we live in Pawnee county)............and one, EF4, hit a little town near Ardmore and just about wiped out the whole town. There were 8 tornadoes almost in a straight line from Tulsa all the way to OKC............minor touchdowns in all but the one. Scarey stuff. But we've had a heck of a heat wave here for the last week.........70's and 80's! When we get the heat and a thunderstorm moves in........boom tornado time! Christina
  15. I hope to scroll, but things have kinda happened to prevent too much of what I want to do lol. Christina

  17. Yes I have heard of it, although I had no idea how it was accomplished. But I read a thread on this on the Fox Chapel forum... "Beeswax does produce a nice finish, although it is not in the least bit durable. When we finished items using beeswax, we'd always seal it first with a coat or two of shellac. Then melt your beeswax with a small amount of turps. Apply it with steel wool and buff off. It must be buffed really well, so as to prevent dust etc sticking to it and will require repeated applications every so often so as to retain it's lustre." Many of the members also said that they prefer to use the spray on shellac. I hope this helps. Christina
  18. You did a wonderful job on this clock JP.........it's just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Christina
  19. Beautiful cutting JP.............I love the backer. Travis is right it gives a lovely soft feel to the whole thing. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Christina
  20. You did a beautiful job on both Linda............thanks so much for sharing them with us. Christina
  21. You are soooo right! I've visited his site many many times and have collected most of his free patterns with the hope that someday I will be able to cut them. I love antique patterns of just about anything...........sewing, quilting, everything. His own works are just amazing. I hope to purchase some of them..........like his Medusa box! OMG I love that box! Also the harp he has...........I drool everytime I see it! Thanks so much for sharing this with us.........everyone should visit his site. You will thoroughly enjoy it. Christina
  22. I have been a pyrographer since I was 12..........I'm 51 now. I have only just started scrolling and I used to carve marionettes as a kid. I've only dabbled a little with carving other than the marionettes. So to answer your question.............. ............I'm a WANNABE woodworker/crafter! I would dearly love to learn to create beautiful furniture, fretwork, intarsia.............EVERYTHING! I think I have sawdust in my veins just waiting to burst out lol. I love the smell and feel of wood. I love the grain patterns and different colors in different species of wood. I just can't get enough of it! Great question. Christina
  23. I have to have my saw a bit on the high side to keep me from slouching so much..............but I still have a great deal of fatique and pain when I saw. I have a really bad back and hips........degenerative joint disease and Lupus.........so I have to stop frequently and lay down. I like CJ's idea of the 4 X 4.............I may have to try this. It may help me to see better. My saw doesn't have a light either and the lighting in this house really blows.............so maybe tilting the saw will help there too. I need to get a clamp on light I guess. This is a great thread! Christina
  24. CJ you definitely have my dream workshop..............I AM SOOOO JEALOUS LOL! I have very few tools right now........but my hubby is most supportive and doesn't complain too loudly when I buy tools or wood. He just comes up with another project for me to do for him lololol. He just doesn't know I WANT IT ALL yet ! He already thinks I'm weird because I'd rather have tools and wood than diamonds roflmbo. I just can't seem to convince him I don't NEED jewelry............I'd rather have a new tool. I think he's starting to get the scrolling bug too...........he keeps watching everything I do and making comments like "you'll have to show me how you do that one of these days". So I'm thinking about getting him his own saw..............his birthday is coming up! I think it would be so fun to share my hobby with him........he has none..........unless you count video games ewwwwww. Christina
  25. I haven't done anything yet that needs framing. Mostly I've done functional stuff like clocks, trivets, ornaments or wordart, etc... But there are some great tips here when I do.........thanks! Christina
