  1. Optimus Prime I think Gator. That came out pretty good. I bet he's gonna love it. Thanks for sharing it with us. DW
  2. Like any tool they have their place and proper use. I too use gloves from time to time generally however it is when I am applying my finishes. I have used them however to help protect my hands when sawing woods that are splintery when cut, or woods that tend to be slippery. Generally however I do not wear them outside of when I am applying finishes. Those gloves do look comfortable though. Wonder where they got them. DW
  3. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW
  4. Hans looks great. However you need a magnifier to play the thing Thanks for sharing this with us. DW
  5. About 5% of the population is color insensitive to reds and greens. Personally I like the black but then i cut with a LOT of light and this cuts down on the loss of where the blade is on the pattern as I have several shadows from the blade at various angles pointing to where I am currently cutting. DW
  6. Excellent work on that. Where I grew up we had 2 mills like this... one was a museum and the other privately owned and was still working. This brings back fond memories. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW

  8. Very nicely done! That pattern is a fun one to do. It would look great with a tung oil finish. It would darken the wood slightly and bring out the grain of the wood. Ultimately though your choice DW

  10. That would also be my guess. The right side is definitely for chisels of some sort. Perhaps lathe tools. This might be a box for the tools of a carousel horse restorer or something like that as well. DW

  12. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW
  13. I purchased a couple of years ago the pattern for the locking combination box he has a pattern for. Other than being metric which is no real issue I had no problem what so ever. Fast delivery - I got hardcopy printed pattern rather than .pdf DW

  17. I use an 8 x 10 sheet of plexiglass that I drilled 1/8 in holes and put rare earth magnets in for mine. DW
  18. LarB one of the other things you can do to help eliminate or at least reduce tearout on the thinner wood is use a zero clearance insert. What this does if help prevent the wild bending of the thinner stock as the blade passes through the wood. Another thing is - use a new blade a sharp blade cuts and does not tear as much. None of the suggestions are sacred and you might have to use more than one together to achieve success in your mission. no matter, having a sharp blade will most assuredly help using a fine tooth blade will as well. DW
  19. Those look great Kevin. Thanks for sharing them with us. DW

Kevin it is called an ANKH also known as key of life, the key of the Nile or crux ansata (Latin meaning "cross with a handle"), was the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic character that read "life", a triliteral sign for the consonants. Sounds like you have a lot of work a head of you my friend. Are you printing patterns or did you make a tracing template for it? Looking good so far keep up the good work my friend.
