  1. great work. You are your worst critic. What you see as a flaw most people will not even notice. I use aspen for white parts. The finish I use is equal parts - tung oil (tung oil finish because can't find pure tung oil often) matte or satin poly, and mineral spirits. I use this on all my projects 3-4 coats. it has a little shine but not bad. I don't like mine real glossy.
  2. I agree with Melanie on this Marg. Time to try another one.
  3. nicely done. I'm sure you mom will love it.
  4. great job. keep up the good work.

  7. excellent cutting. great job
  8. thanks for the review. I have a couple other Jet tools (lathe & table saw) and a great tools. If my EX 21 ever gives up the ghost I will look at the jet for a replacement
  9. I have address labels from Vista Print, that are basically small versions of my business cards. I always put one on the back and then sign and date. If the labels won't fit I always sign and date the project somewhere. I also have a stamp from Vista print but now that I got the labels that"s what I prefer.
  10. great cutting Dick. I would like to cut that one.
  11. welcome back
  12. looks great Dick
  13. excellent job
  14. I would just clean all the rust off by using mineral spirits and fine steel wool or a scrubbing pad and then wax it. The vinegar may be causing the "fine rust". I would be afraid to paint it and have the paint make your project stick when sliding around. This is my 2 cents I'm sure there will be others offer help.
  15. I wouldn't worry about it. I had to go look at the pattern to see what was actually broke off. Thanks for cutting one of my patterns, and for posting the cutting.
  16. I never used to until I saw some at a show framed with glass and thought it looked a little better. So now all my portraits have glass. But as Len said it's a matter of choice.
  17. looks great. I don't like using spiral blades but I will if I need to. I feel i have more control over a flat blade.
  18. We will be in Gatlinburg the week before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to make it to her studio during that week. It would be nice to meet another scroller from the Village.
  19. great job Dick. I'm sure he will love it.

    Hi

    welcome to the Village.
  22. Hi Melanie, Welcome to the Village. I have never attended one of Judy's classes but have been to her studio many times. We (wife and I) try to get to Knoxville a couple times a year(have friends there) and I always try to make it to Judy's to buy a pattern. I enjoy fretwork but I like intarsia more.
  23. thank you Dick.
