  2. Here are a few intersecting word art cuttings. They are cut into 1/2" mahogany. and are 12.5" long 6" high
  3. excellent job. I'm sure she will love it.
  4. Thank you all for the comments, they mean a lot.
  5. Thank Melanie. The intarsia sub forum according to the description was to be for tips and tricks or getting advise, I know many post their work there. I'm just used to posting them in the bragging rights. I don't want to double post it now, I did change the title to Crucifix Intarsia. maybe that will help a little.
  6. Here is my latest. The pattern is by Judy Gale Roberts. This is the smaller version of this pattern, it measures 21" x 27". I used walnut, basswood, aspen, and sycamore.
  7. I buy address labels from Vista print, that look like my business cards and stick them on the back. If I don't use that I have a friend laser engrave wood "coins" for me that say Handcrafted by and my name around the edge and my initials in the center.
  8. great idea. looks like it worked well
  9. Thanks everyone for the comments. this is the first intarsia I've done in a while, but I have a couple more in the works.
  10. Hello Marg. I've been around just haven't posted a lot. been turning bowls and pens this is the first scrolling/intarsia project I've one in a while. Thank you.
  11. newest intarsia piece. A beaver. measures 14.5 x 20. It has 41 pieces and 6 types of wood. the woods are - cherry, walnut, aspen, poplar, wenge, and quarter sawn sycamore. Pattern by Judy Gale Roberts.
  12. I use hot glue on the edges.
  13. I have a 10 x 12 shop(shed) and it is not insulated well. This is the heater I use -https://www.amazon.com/Comfort-Zone-Industrial-Electric-Ceiling/dp/B009F1SWH8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1515026909&sr=8-4&keywords=220+electric+heater. When I'm not in the I keep the temp. dial turned down and it stays between 40 and 50 in the shop. When I get home from work I go out and crank it up and wait about an hour or so before going out. By then it is close to 70. Here lately we are lucky if we see double digit temperatures here. The high today was 12. It woks great for me I have it hanging from the ceiling in the corner.
  14. Merry Christmas to all.
  15. thanks for the info, I just ordered several issues.
  16. I use the flexible sanding sleeves on a variable speed bench grinder.
  17. I used the 1800 for years before I bought a dewalt and now an ex21. My friend had the 1680, to me the 1800 was more user friendly. all the controls tension release included were in the front of the saw. If I had to choose between the two I would go for the 1800.
  18. I have a few different ways I "brand" my projects. I have address labels that match my business cards that I put on the back. When using this I still sign and date it. I have a friend that laser engraves wood "coins" with handmade by and my name on them. If using these I drill a hole in the back or bottom if turning bowls and glue in. Or I have a wood burner with fine writing tips I will sign my work with that. Everything I make except pens and other small turnings have my name on them.
  19. I have an address label that looks like my business card(both from Vistaprint) that I put on the backs of all my project. I also sign and date below the label. For my turning projects and other woodworking I have wood "coins" a friend laser engraved with hand made by that I inset in the project. My name is on everything I make.
  20. I replaced the bolts(adjustable feet) on my excalibur stand with small casters. I put straight ones on the back and swivel lockable ones on the front.
  21. I use the hot glue method as well
  22. welcome to the Village. If you have questions just ask.
