  1. I agree wholeheartedly with what Ron Johnson has stated. To me, a cutting such as this should always be framed, or, done on a natural edge blank. It's a much to classy cutting, not to be be enhanced with a perfect frame. Len
  2. Dick, it might have had you on the edge, but, you sure did a fantastic job of bringing it all together. Len
  3. Exceptional cutting Dick, it looks fantastic. Len
  4. Two very nice looking pieces Clyde, I did linesman work for C.N.R. for a year. Man was that job ever hard on the legs and back,I was very happy to get the callback to the shops. Len
  5. Paul, you could make lots of items with these base cuts. Key chains, brooches lots of smaller items, they would be good sellers at gun shows. Those people will buy most anything made of antler. Len
  6. Nicely done Mark, there's no mistaking who it is. Len
  7. Nicely done, I'm sure grandma would be pleased with it. Len
  8. Nicely done Mark, it looks really nice. Len
  9. Great outcome Dick, it's easy to see why she liked it. Len
  10. Ed, we need to no the name of the product to participate in this conversation. To call it a cleaning clay without naming the name of the product, is no good to us. We could be using the same product, but not realize so unless you name what you are using. Do you have a product or manufacturers name, can you explain what it is like? Len P.S. OK, I just googled cleaning clay, lots of results showed up. It looks as if the cleaning clay is a paint treatment product, is that what your using? It's made or sold by Griot's-Garage.
  11. Mark, I would apply the finish to the cross, before attaching the backer. The way I would finish the cross, I would dip it into a tray of 50/50 mixture of paint thinner and poly. My reason for finishing it this way, is that it will give complete coverage to the inside cuts. I really dislike looking at a cutting such as this, when I can see interior cuts that don't have any finish on them. I find that it makes the cuts always look dusty when not finished properly. Yes, you can always use spray cans or some other type of spray system, but, I find with those types of finish you usually end up with excessive amounts on the top of the item. After I dip an item, I wipe the excess off with a cloth. Then I let it dry for a day, after that I apply the backer board which is already partially completed with the first coat of finish. When I have the two pieces glued together, I apply a final coat of finish. Len
  12. Dan, I know of no pros or cons for either, to me, it's just a matter of preference. I usually top feed, but, at times I do feed up from the bottom and I don't notice to much difference when doing so. Len
  13. Nicely done John. Len
  14. Fantastic piece, what did your wife think of it? Len
  15. Very nice Helmut, there was lots of work in that piece. Thanks for sharing it with us. Len
  16. Edward, congratulations to you and your Mrs, on reaching this milestone. You're a good looking couple, hopefully, you'll have many more years together. Len
  17. Jim, for short pieces like these, I just glue them together edge to edge using carpenters glue and clamps. I don't usually bother jointing small pieces like these, the edge on the pieces of wood probably are square enough. Len
  18. Ralph, it looks great, your granddaughter will love it. Len
  19. Nicely done Rob. Len

  21. Very nice gift Rob, I'm sure the recipients will cherish it. Len
  22. To get a paint match to any color all you need to do, is take a paint chip to most automotive parts suppliers that sell paint. They can match colors the same way as Walmart can, all they have to do is scan it. Len
  23. Berry, I always use a black backer board. My reason for always using black, is that black matches up with pretty much every color there is. So, no matter where you place the object on display, it will always match the color of the room. Len
  24. Randy, I like the look of the box, but, I don't know that I like the inlay work. Especially, if you want to draw attention to the box, rather than the top. Len
  25. Paul, thanks for replying, I'll give the face-book thing a try. I want to go the legal way, that's why I asked if the pattern was for sale anywhere. Len
