  1. I like the "locking" feature, that is nice. Do you know what brand they are? I have not seen a drawer set like these.
  2. What a great idea!!! Many possibilities.
  3. I have not ever used a mop, but every time this topic comes up I think about buying one. I have things like this https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotch-Brite-Fine-Finishing-Sander-9416NA/dp/B00004Z4DK that I use, and really like. Several years ago Menards had them on clearance (and really cheap) so I bought all of them. I think I am down to my last one so I might have to switch up my system soon.
  4. Do you have an ace hardware near you? they have a lot of types of screws, I found a thumb screw for one of my old saws to replace the existing screw. I took the screw in and said, I want one of these with a thumb screw end, the guys helping were super nice.
  5. Scroller's Choice was the new start up magazine. info can be found on their website. http://scrollerschoicemag.wixsite.com/home I believe that @Lee Neiden is in charge of it and has stopped by a time or two.
  6. I have never seen built up 4/4 being sold, although I have made my own by that method. I would be upset and call the distributor to complain. If it was glued well it will be structurally as strong or stronger than real 4/4 lumber.
  7. What did you do to get the crackle? It looks nice.
  8. I usually buy frames and typically have 1-5 on hand. I buy them when I find them on sale at craft stores or at second hand stores. When I cut portrait type things I size them to standard frames. I typically only frame pieces that I am going to use (hang myself, give away or sell) I don't have a stock pile of framed pieces.
  9. I found this post that might be helpful
  10. Last year I was in a different school and had classes of 28-34 so I know how lucky I am to have 10. I love it!
  11. I saw this pattern this morning, I haven't gotten it yet but plan to. I like the chess set that doesn't require compound cutting or lathe work. I also like the fun board to go with it. It will be very cool when it is done, I can't wait to see your photos.
  12. The kids have been a bit like caffeinated squirrels this morning so no detail shots. This is my school shop. I teach 5-12 grade wood shop, grouped by age and interest level. I am at a setting 4 facility for kids with disabilities or other special needs so I have small groups of less than 10 kids at a time. We got a new Delta scroll saw earlier this year that my kids love. We also have a saw stop cabinet saw and a big timesaver sander. The drill press, jointer and bandsaw are all jet.
  13. When painting I usually do a quick coat of something clear. I use the same acrylic top coat that I use for the finish, but you could use the pre-stain stuff. The first coat seals the grain a bit and make the pain go on a bit smoother. I use acrylic craft paint. I typically use this stuff from Michael's, but there are other similar brands at all the craft stores and even walmart.
  14. nice work! How big are your small signs?
  15. They are easier than they look, give it a try. I had a student once who used a basket as their very first project. None of the lines were smooth, but it did stack up to be a basket. I have seen the cutting you have done, I think you can make it work. Also, Thanks for the compliments everybody!
  16. just about the only time I tape a piece back in is if I have a delicate peninsula that I am worried about catching on the table while I am cutting something else.
  17. Alex Fox @alexfox has come up with a few cool basket plans recently and I decided to cut 2 of them. I used 1/2" cherry for both baskets. Since Alex's plans called for 1/4" I only cut every other ring. From making other baskets I know that too many rings makes a funny looking bowl. Anyway, the fewer rings does loose some of the spiral effect, but I still like it. Katie
  18. I use a small drill bit and put the hole in the middle somewhere. Then as I cut I feather out to narrow on the ends. This hides the entry hole pretty well.
  19. Can you tell me more about the trap you added?
  20. cool video! I love seeing how the machines work.
  21. I have had good luck with hot glue for some magnets on my fridge, but any that I have given away I use 5 minute epoxy.
  22. that is really beautiful.
  23. If it is a well hidden glued spot I don't feel bad at all.
