  1. Get the assortment pack of FD blades from mike at mikes work shop [email protected]
  2. Also a great place to donate your magazines
  3. Sears has many Mfg cos. make their private label tools and equipment not to specs but by price so you get what you pay for and when you need a part expect a high replacement price.
  4. I think many will agree the stand was engineered for stand up operation as many have gone to a shorter stand and a more comfortable chair rather than a stool, other than that a 788 deWalt is a fine saw.JMO
  5. That's the worse with sears when you buy replacement parts they tend to be quite expensive.
  6. I'm 6 ft tall and with My type 1 De Walt SS on the factory stand I had to climb onto the shop stool every time so I took it off the stand and have it mounted on a plank that sits on a 24 inch tool stand. Now I use a secretary type chair on rollers that gives me better control and vision of my workpiece (cutting).I can adjust the angle to suite by shimming up the rear of the plank.I believe who ever designed the De Walt stand intended it for stand up operation of the saw.Any how it has made a world of difference for my comfort when scrolling, you never know till you try a different way.JMO Now what to do with an empty SS Stand ??Maybe a new home for my belt sander hmmm
  7. I use a foot switch and I put that on a box to keep it up off the floor.
  8. Check your local liquor store many imported wines come in wood boxes.
  9. I took a muffin fan out of an old puter used heavy copper wire to fasten it to saw and be adjustable its very quiet and does the job.
  10. Keep reading posts on the many websites pertaining to the subject as well as googling its amazing what you will keep learning even after you think you know it all.JMHO
  11. Selling any craft at a garage sale has proven to be NG for myself with scroll work and my daughter that creates fine pottery. At craft fairs she excells selling her work. Most going to garage sales are looking for only bargains.JMHO
  12. I use a dremel drill with a flex shaft after carefully marking the hole to be with an ice pick like tool less likley to go off the mark than a drill press.
  13. A bunge cord from a rafter in my shops works 4 me,adj lenth for arm to just stay up
  14. I use a length of solid copper wire like # 16 or 18 Ga. from the hose to a stationary part of the saw it works on my 788 quite good
  15. I would try a stainless steel screw before retapping to a bigger size

  20. Some blade clamps have a set screw on the opposite side of the clamp that take a allen key to adjust in or out. Also like already posted filing the clamp screw could solve your prob.
  21. I bought a reconditioned one unaware that it was but have had no issues with it @ $190.00 IMHO it was a bargain with the stand.Having read of the switch prob I put it on and covered it with plastic as I use a foot switch.Just the other day I picked up a dermel swing arm lamp and magnifier for $5.00 at a tag sale so I'm a happy camper.I have a couple craftsman saws they work but no comparison to the 788 as far as vibration free and just being able to cut faster and more accurately I guess why its often referred to as a production saw,you just have to scroll on one to appreciate it. JMHO
  22. I picked up on this from another site tried it and it works Great.if you dont move your saw around hang a bungee cord (the supple the better) from the overhead down to the lift arm of your saw (adjustment and size of bungee will have to be determined)once you get it to just hold up the arm with a slight lift with your hand and it stays up your all set.No more blocking up the arm to tread the blade through the work piece.I know they sell add ons for this but my method will save enough to buy a good bottle wine or??Did i mention I'm a bit frugal.John aka qlty
  23. Sounds like a great idea, you might ask the pattern designers to make one for us or if you do it your self please post it for us to see.I think a natural spar varnish finish on mahogany might stand up well in the weather.I should be a good seller for classic car owners ask the legal experts about using trade logos and names.
  24.
