All that tube is for a vac system. Trying to catch dust with that small tube is a not worth the effort in my opinion. To me a vac on a scrollsaw is a waste of time and effort. I would get the articulating hose and just blow the dust away from you. When done scrolling for the day take the vac and clean up each day. saves wear and tear on a shop vac and the dust is not that much. Yes wear a dust mask but that is all I have been doing for over 30 years. Listening to a shop vac all the time is nerve racking to me. This is just my opinion. Good luck.

I believe than it was Jim Sweet that started them. Not sure. But all that do them now are followers. Every time I see one weather by the people here or not I flash back to when they came out and thought the idea was pretty cool. I guess they did not copyright the idea to protect it either.

This maybe who I was thinking of being it goes that far back. It started with one person I know that. All the rage was look at the new design.

Now this question goes back a few years but being I see alot of people here do animal puzzles, who was the inventor of these. I remember they were called something like Garanimals or woodanimals or something like that and the first name Steve sticks in my head. Anyone have an idea?? One of the scrollsaw magazines featured him back then too. Lots of people put out those patterns now but just thinking out loud.

So does mine. Not an indicator of age. As I said they basically all look alike. Pretty sure that is a VS saw. Looks in good condition. Just need to hear it run and make sure the bellow is not dried out but you can replace them. If you can get for a good price they are well worth it.

It is not that old because of the quick blade release Can not tell what size 18 or 22. The blower hose was changed to take the articulating hose. Not sure when they started including that. The hose just use to come through the upper arm. Not sure if that was an add-on for the light because I have never seen that. Did not come with the older ones. Either way these run 1200 to 1600 new so if the motor runs well and you can check it out maybe worth looking into. They are a production professional saw. Made to last and have not changed much over the years. A little different blade system than most but easy to get use to. Plenty of room underneath which is what I like about them. That is an auxilary table top he put on it. Good luck.

Here are all the pieces that came with the kit. I saved the old one in case--- I am sure they still have this kit because all their saws are based on this setup. Sorry I do not have a part number. But as I said pop the roller pin out and it will fall out. An easy fix. I was wrong about a plastic bushing it is metal on metal. Not sure if they modified it. My new one had some sort of plastic caulk for a lack of a better word but guess this wears away. Now if the handle is just spinning and does not lock then there is the setscrew than may have come lose. You see that in the photo also. And here are all the pieces I ever bought for my RBI saws. I usually buy 2 of each because I have 2 saws. I use to replace those plastic bottom clamp holders because they would stretch over time but i have since replaced with a spring steel piece so no more of those. The articulating hose is the upgrade for the older saws because they all just had the plastic hose that was cut at a 45 and stopped. These you can position the dust away from you. I am sure all saws have this adapter.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH See I misread this as I have been doing lately. I have had the front lever pop up before and had ordered a new one. There is a plastic bushing and it wears out. Easy to replace. Pop roll bearing out and new one comes with the kit.

This was the old timers version. I remember that from many years ago.

Kevin not sure what old is any more but I have a Hawk 220VS and a 226VS Never had a problem with the back lever poping up. I do not have the barrel clamps. I have the newer ones. There is a flat spot on the lever and it lays flat on the triangle wedge all the way. Make sure. There should be no play in that cam when blade is tight. I really do not mess with that setting any more. My adjustment is when I place a blade in the bottom holder and install holder, I swing the top part of the blade into top holder and top of blade touches top of blade holder every time. If I have to switch to a different blade I usually have to cut some of the blade off to make fit just so I do not touch that back adjustment. Works for me. I will say this that lever works its way toward the arm and sometimes it will chatter against that. I placed a piece of foam rubber so this does not happen. That is about all I can tell you. You can tighten the bottom nut on the rod to make it more stiffer.

Very nice cuttings. If you do not mind a few questions??? When stack cutting how are you holding together?? Are you putting anything between them?? Do you use a backerboard when cutting and if so what?? What blade are you using and at what speed?? Are you dealing with fuzzies on one or all records?? Thanks in advance.

Baltic Birch would work well for that. 1/16" will be tough. It would have to be a solid wood. White birch would be stronger than Balsa that is used also.

Not a chew out but a pointing out. If you work with BB as much as you say then this should not happen. I use to have a dealer where I bought all kinds of hardwoods and plywoods including BB but 3 years ago they had a fire and did not rebuild. If you are painting then it will not stand out. Most places have free shipping when buying on line such as the one I mentioned. I have bought from them a couple times now and have not been disappointed. I buy 12X24 pieces alot because that is what fits my needs. Good luck.

First off is that a patch on the same board??? If so then that is your fault for not seeing that. Pretty obvious. Second if you are using baltic birch and want top grade you have to pay for it. But to use top grade as a backer is throwing away money. Just need to be more vigilant and realize what you are going to get. B/BB is your best grade. I get mine from Woodpeckers. You say too hard to take apart. Don't see why. That board is toast so knock the nalis all the way through and pry it off. Even if glued it will pry off. May splinter but just clean up when done with a sharp chisel and sandpaper. Save pieces to trace for new one. That is my suggestion. Good luck.

I always start at the General scrolling forum and then wander to others in no order. I do visit the bragging section and I feel so bad many times that I do not open everyones' projects and make a comment. If i do see something I like I will post to it. I know it makes people feel good the more posts they get but it is human nature not to comment more often. We all do not have the same interests. The like button is nice but even that is like well I looked but have nothing to say so why bother. Not fair to the people posting for sure but hope all understand. If I posted in any forum I always try to check if there are comments or questions that I need to address. Other than that I visit a couple times a day if possible. This site is probably one of the best and most active scrolling sites so it is a nice visit. You do find the same people always partaking and wish others would jump in. Anyway happy scrolling.

Go to my basement shop whenever I want. No customers hanging on my back. Will be getting started on a few projects and will work at my leisure. Nice feeling. Have to go play the lottery.

In woodworking the rule is the longer the project the grain runs with it. If it is wider than longer than the grain runs with it. That is the way I do many of my projects. Now if it is long as it is wide I take a long look at it and flip a coin but usually top to bottom.

click on a theme you are interested in such as animals plaques and so on. Usually a few pages in each. pretty easy.

It is a little older year because of the barrel type blade holders. Not a bad thing but they have gotten better over the years.

Thanks happen to have that book and a library full of others. Some so very basic when I first started some 35 years ago. Wonder if they are worth any money today for collectables?? One of these days I may pursue it but right now I have so much on my plate it makes my head spin but I am having fun.
