  1. I'm with you Roly. I despise them. Have some that I needed for a large project and cussed all the way through. Those left have probably rusted away. With my reverse blades, you don't have the messy back to clean up and also get smoother cuts. I would rather spend my time cutting rather than cleaning up the mess.
  2. I show 664 but some of those are multiples. Don't have a way to determine print copies but there is a lot.
  3. I always apply blue tape first so really doesn't make much difference which glue used. I do use the 3M #77 though. Have used glue sticks to apply a color picture that I wanted to cut around and it worked fine.
  4. I have found that I rarely tension more than 2.5 and usually only 1.5 or 2 without a problem.
  5. What a great way to make something exceptional from something plain. Am sure your friend will be blown away.
  6. Beautiful work. Do you have a backing behind the cutouts to diffuse the light?
  7. I also prefer the dark background. You might also consider either extending the branch or using a narrower frame so that the branch ends at the frame. That would not leave it floating.
  8. Good job although I can't imagine doing with a #9. I rarely use anything larger than a 5.
  9. Did this plaque as a thank you to the owner of the local bowling alley for his help in keeping my drive plowed this winter. Easy way to frame as it is cut on a cabinet door. Our local habitat store had a large selection of these doors that were new that they were selling for $5.
  10. If I tried to get my dog in that, he would laugh in my face.
  11. You might check on Amazon as they had a pretty good deal also.
  12. Will have to try that as my arthritic fingers get too sore now for scrolling very long.
  13. I would agree with everyone about stacking. I have found that a 4 stack of the 1/8" bb works best. I normally don't stack 1/4". For blades, I use everything from 0 to 5 depending on the intricacy of the project. I use only flat reverse tooth blades as I despise spirals and will only use them if the project is too large for the saw.
  14. Thx Travis for the link. I have seen their shows before and enjoyed them. I wonder why she didn't feed the blade from the top as that would help avoid kinking.
  15. Good idea. Very practical without wasting a lot of time making it pretty.
  16. I have the 350 and have used it for years. The blade holder has a knob that tightens or loosens the strength of the grip. The lever on the blade holder swings to the right to loosen and to the left to clamp the blade. I think once you get used to it you will really like it. It's too late for you but I would recommend that anyone who wants to take the blade holder apart do so very carefully. A friend of mine bought one and it wouldn't work right, turns out the lever was bent.
  17. Stacking to 1/2 or 3/4" will help with drift and will be easier to control.
  18. I have one of the lifters I bought about a year ago and it still won't work. I guess you do have to install it for that. I do mainly small work and have yet to feel the need for it.
  19. Amen, brother. I am definitely with you. I despise spirals. Did have to use them on a large project and cussed all the way through.
  20. I really like the deer and bear but the train is outstanding. Beautiful work.
  21. Welcome from an almost neighbor. We aren't too far apart. This is an excellent site for all kinds of help.
  22. One of my goofs happened at the lumber yard while loading lumber. Managed to drive a large splinter through the knuckle of my finger. Asked to some tweezers but they insisted on the ER. My worst stupid mistake was hurrying to finish a project. Was rounding over 2.5" circles in 1/2" wood at the router table. Used my right forefinger to hold the piece down while turning with the left hand. Needless to say, the piece flipped out and my finger went into the router bit. My standard reaction is to jerk my hands back and I thought jeez that was close until I noticed the blood splattered across the wall. Looked down and thought the end of my finger is missing. Wasn't just most of the skin, nail and tip of the bone. Another trip to the ER. Nail grew back but am just getting feeling back in the end of my finger after 25 yrs.
  23. Thank you for reminding me as hadn't noticed that my supporter sign had disappeared.
  24. For simple shapes that I will be repeating, I also make templates (got some used plastic signs from HD). Have used 1/8" masonite or thin plywood. Found this works better than cardboard as it tends to fray around the edges over time. For more intricate patterns, I apply blue painters tape then glue the pattern (do not like the purple). If cutting a hard wood or stack will apply clear tape over the top to help prevent burning. If I want to combine patterns or put figures together (like initials), I use a light box that I made.
  25. Welcome to the forum from a neighbor to the north, south central MO.
