Roly, I wouldn't have wanted the foot switch either but with the DeWalt, the on/off switch has a nasty habit of quitting. This results in a tear down and clean out. With the knee switch, I can tape over the saw switch and not worry about it.
For several years I have listened to scrollers brag on foot pedals. Since I can't sit with my feet down, I didn't think they would be for me. Had a brainstorm the other day so bought a foot pedal and fastened it to the side of scroll stand. Now it is a knee pedal rather than a foot pedal. Works great.
I think that I am just a woodcutter or maybe crafter. Just recently have been attempting woodcarving but haven't progressed very far yet. I no I don't qualify as a woodworker as I just tried to make a support for between the seats in my van so the dog can lay down. I will cover it with carpet and as long as noone looks under the carpet, I will be ok.
Sorry for the poor picture quality. The circle is 8" and the name is laid out and then the bone ends added so the length can vary. This one is all cherry as I usually do them in oak but the board that a friend provided as oak turned out to be cherry when I planed it. The same customer has ordered 3 more different breeds and then just received another order last night.
I can appreciate your feelings as my aggravation is sleeping where he can keep an eye on me so that he doesn't miss out on anything. That picture will be comforting later and will be a reminder of the good times.
Kudos to you for the rescue. You have made a friend for life that will repay you many times over.
My friend doesn't like being in the shop as thinks it is too noisy so will prowl around outside until I'm ready to go back to the house.
