  1. I have wanted to upload these since Christmas but after they were downloaded to my computer, I couldn't find them until now. The second picture is a combination of scrolling and carving.
  2. When I'm cutting something like that in a stack, the brad nailer works great in the scrap areas. I still use the blue tape under the pattern as it leaves the surface cleaner.
  3. Your piece looks better than their trophy so he should treasure it.
  4. You mean that you are supposed to finish projects? I have gifts that were started for Christmas of 2013 that still aren't finished. They aren't dated so will work whenever I finish them. I'm sure if I dig deep enough I can find some older projects that were never finished. When something new comes along, I want to try it and everything else gets put on a back burner. Occasionally I do finish a project as long as nothing more interesting comes up.
  5. I have had the pleasure of meeting Rick and he is a font of scrolling information. Not only that but he is very willing to share his knowledge.
  6. Very nice work. A word of caution though, be sure that she approves the fabric for backing first. Don't ask me how I learned that.
  7. You can always ask at the pro desk if they will order the Baltic Birch for you. I have done that at HD.
  8. I thought Dr. Who was a question but appears that I am behind the times. Nice work though.
  9. The fox in my neighborhood would love that.
  10. Great job and he will love it. I'll bet his parents will be glad there is no horn!
  11. My first project is some custom cutting for a customer. Then some intersecting word plaques some ornaments that weren't finished last year the rest I'll have to wipe off the dust to see what it is
  12. Beautiful work.
  13. Welcome to the Village. You have found the best place on the net for scrollers although you do have to be careful of some of the members as they can get carried away. I won't mention any names as they will soon become evident.
  14. I don't scroll for the profit. I do items that I want to and most get given away. I have donated items for fund raisers. One group was raising money to send people on the honor flights so I donated several items. Also to the church when they have a function. Have just finished a project for my Vet as he usually gives me a discount if I take in a gift and it is heartworm medicine time.
  15. Very beautiful. I heard the 4-legged lawn mowers in the background. That wouldn't work here as that much vegetation would surely attract a lot of those long slithery creatures. A narrow strip behind my shop didn't get mowed for a while last year and when the guy mowed it, he found 4 snakes in a 3' by 12' patch.
  16. I have a lot of frames that I have collected over the years (just found a nice one this week at a thrift store). Although lately it seems as though a lot of the frames are plastic rather than wood. I also have an excavating company that has a lot close by and I can run over with my wheelbarrow for a load of dirt if I need to fill some holes in the yard or a planter box. Also found a company that makes wood flooring and managed to get enough cutoffs of oak to make 100 small boxes (the wood cost me $5).
  17. Very nice. My 95 yr old mother would love that as she is a fan of the show, only couldn't see it now.
  18. Excellent job of capturing the likeness.
  19. I think that it is great that anyone can scroll and there are so many ways of doing it. We each have our own preference of type of work. As for me, I have no interest in intarsia although it is beautiful. I don't usually tackle some of the extremely intricate patterns but that has more to do with the fact that I can't sit at the saw for extended periods of time.
  20. Nicely done. Really like the edge detail.
  21. Congratulations. Doesn't look like you will have a lot of scrolling time.
  22. www.mikesworkshop.com for FD blades. For me, they are the best available. I used to have a shop and sold Olsen blades but when I found the FD's I switched and haven't looked back. I have heard that Pegasus is a good blade also.
  23. You can order off the Mikes workshop site and it has a sample pack to try.
  24. I have a Delta that I bought new in 94 and it is still doing the job. I don't plane as much as I used to but have never had a problem. Last year, thought it had given up the ghost so I took my HF coupon to get the one they had on sale. Didn't even get it out of the box when a friend came by and demonstrated that the problem was operator malfunction so took the HF back for a refund.
  25. Top notch pattern and great cutting.
