  1. I really like this as I think they are beautiful animals.
  2. I have used the practice of applying a small piece of wood to thinner stock to attach sawtooth hangers. As of late, I have been using fabric or felt backers and have made a hanger from either ribbon or gold braid that is first glued to the back of the piece and then the backer glued on over that.
  3. Those saws used a step pulley to make them variable speed. I had an old Delta and it was a workhorse although didn't do too well with fine blades as the spring pull was hard on them.
  4. Another member to be of trivets anon. Nice work.
  5. Beautiful work but beware that paintings are copyrighted.
  6. Hey neighbor. I'm from just a short distance north of you in Buffalo. Welcome to the best group on the web. As mentioned above all the saws do take the 5" blade although some take the pinned type rather than the plain end.
  7. Very nice. I found that if I planed the wood to 5/8", it was much easier to cut and worked just as well.
  8. Nice job. I could use the eat it sign.
  9. Beautiful work and I'm sure it will be appreciated.
  10. I don't envy you the production work but nice job. Yes, Kevin, you could use those if you wax the runners. That is what I had as a kid many eons ago.
  11. Nice job. I have the same problem as the picture on my computer is right side up but when I post it, it is sideways.
  12. Very nice. Once you start on something like that, it can create an avalanche. Dog owners really like items that show their dog. Cat owners are almost as bad. Last year a friend of mine was at an auction and bought a box of 20+ clock motors that was given to me so I started making clocks. Have a friend that has a small jewelry and clock repair shop so is a good source of hands. We have a barter system so the only cost I have is the wood and my time so works out pretty good.
  13. I'm with you, that looks nice but I also like oak better.
  14. I would also recommend waxing the table with Johnson's paste wax as it lasts quite a while. A drink holder would work just fine as a little sawdust just adds fiber to your diet.
  15. Neat idea and I know that kids like anything that is personalized.
  16. Welcome Gary to the best scrolling site on the web from a neighbor from MO. A great group of people here that are always willing to help when you need it.
  17. Very nice. I really like the idea of using thin wood for the cutting with a backer.
  18. You do a brilliant job on those boxes and the baubles are great also. I'm retired with no kids and it makes me tired just to think about doing that much in such a short time.
  19. That sounds a little steep for a saw that old unless its in excellent shape. The Hawk is now made in KS so parts should not be a problem.
  20. Just an idea as I also did a plaque for Colorado and wanted mountains. I googled the CO license plate and copied the mountains from the top of the plate for my plaque.
  21. Excellent work Gator. I used to live in Deer Park.
  22. Nice job. I have sent ornaments in place of cards and also used name ornaments for package tags.
  23. Very nicely done. I have found that it can be a problem putting cuttings in public places as there is always someone who also wants one and I am not really looking for business.
  24. I have been busy getting ready for Christmas as I like to recognize people who help out. The Missouri plaques are for the people who deliver meals to Mother and some special friends. Thanks to Bobscroll for the pattern. The crosses are for my wood carving group with thanks to Scrollrific for the pattern. I think that is the source.

    One down

Nice job and I agree with liking the blue backing. I've not tried blue but have had good success with red.
