  1. Nice job and too bad it can't come true.

    mistake

Larry, the M is the last initial of the last name. I have one of those magnifying lights but seem to have trouble making a connection between what I am seeing and what I am doing.
  3. You are a regular worker bee. Beautiful work and I'm sure they will be pleased.
  4. If I apply a backer to my word art plaques, I usually use a colored felt. That way it can be glued and trimmed after the plaque is finished.

    mistake

Boy, did I goof. After doing the large wall size monograms, I thought why not an ornament. These old eyes are not up to doing things this small and you can't stack cut as each has to be different.
  6. Nicely done.
  7. I have a large assortment that has accumulated over the years but as of now I use almost exclusively FD's #1, #3, #5.
  8. Very nice project. I'm working on an order with a Sue Mey pattern for a marine.
  9. I must apologize to Bobscroll as he did the Missouri pattern, I just added the mule and base.
  10. The MO sign was a special order and they brought me some lumber so I did them the monogram. The sign is in cherry and the monogram is 1/4" ply underlayment. That cheap ply doesn't finish well so I asked her for her favorite color and she said blue so out came the spray can.
  11. Your part of the country should be well stocked with trivets. Excellent job as usual.
  12. Nicely done and on my to do list. My only complaint about cherry is that it burns easier than other types.
  13. I have done lots in oak, walnut, Eastern red cedar, cherry and any other hardwood I can get hold of. I prefer a 5/8" thickness simply because it is easier cutting. Finish by soaking in mineral oil, let drip dry then buff with a brown paper bag to give a little sheen. Have one on my table that has been in use for over 10 yrs without a problem. I've found that if you make them more intricate, they seldom end up on the table but rather on the wall so finish isn't as important.
  14. You forgot to mention that it also burns very easily especially when sanding, so says the voice of experience.
  15. Those are neat but I can see where they might be difficult to sell unless you are in an area that has moose. Looks like a fun project though.

You are definitely the master of this type work. Well done!

    Word Art

Well done! I would think ash would be hard. I like aspen or soft maple as they both are light colored and nice to cut. Guess I am going to have to break down and learn to do this, maybe this winter when the snow blows and is too cold for the shop.
  18. Nicely done. I really like 4 as the number of 1/8" to cut as it seems to be the most efficient.
  19. It kind of makes one wonder why we do this doesn't it? Oh well, guess I'll go to the shop and see what I can mess up today.
  20. As usual, beautiful work.
  21. Will split my donation to the local food bank and also the local cancer society.

Beautiful job. The only problem with cutting one like that is someone will see it and decide they want one also.
  23. Very nice and well designed. I have wanted to try that but can't seem to find the time. I have been known to procrastinate.
  24. Now you know why I have sworn to never cut another leopard. That is outstanding. I met Jeff once at a convention where he conducted a session. Was inspiring but don't know that I want to tackle his patterns.
  25. Welcome to the Village (the best scrolling site) from Missouri. I have fond memories of CO as I once attended Jr. College in La Junta and later worked on a dude ranch NW of Ft. Collins.
