Those look great and should make the kids happy. I used to check at HD for some the signage they were taking down as it is made from a fairly heavy plastic and is great for making templates.
I surely made a mistake as showed the survivor cross to some other people when I took it to deliver and now have two more to do. One in pink and one in purple.
I would suggest that the guy in the video meant to say graphite paper rather than carbon paper. Carbon paper might create a smeared mess but the graphite paper is more like a pencil drawing.
Nice idea and execution. You might also make either the ghosts larger and the pumpkins smaller and glue the pumpkin to the front of the ghost. The double thickness would allow them to stand.
These are the latest completions. The Rebel plaque is a protest that I should be allowed my heritage also. The survivor cross is for a lady in treatment for breast cancer. The tree is a combination scrolling and carving as is the Merry Christmas. Both are PHDs.
Sorry about the sideways pictures but I haven't figured out how to rotate them.
A week! That would take me more like 6 mos. Beautiful work and I'm sure the customers will be happy. I was in my local Meeks a while back and found some nice 1x4 pine that was #3 grade but had some decent boards for a reasonable price. I have cut some small pieces that I will split on my bandsaw as soon as the electrician figures out my problem. I did split one piece that I am using to cut the mailman sign to get two pieces but takes me longer as I can't cut for very long periods at a time.
I dip my trivets in mineral oil, then drip dry. Once dry, I buff them with a brown paper bag. This system has worked for several years and I am still using one of them on the table for at least 10 yrs.
