Thats excellant cutting tony. I'd be interested in what blades you used to do that with. thanks everybody It's 9:00 at nite here in south florida and the tempeture is 95 inside with all the windows open. The landlord won't fix the a.c. for 6 months now so we suffer.Are there any symptoms of something getting ready to happen to us so we know to do something quick?I drink a gallon a day of water everyday as we are mostly water so water must be a key.no matter what i'm doing inside there's a fan blowing hot air on me to keep me dry.Glad everybodys ok so far.thanks again for the info.

sounds like somebody over reved the engine and bent a valve and sold it to you maybe.Sounds like there doing both heads for you.I used to do that for $100.Now it's way more work than i want.last one i did the guy drove straight to new youk when i finished .Cars and trucks will make or break you .

There was a 7' tall x 4' wide cherry cabinet on craigs list for free .it was 25 miles and i did'nt have gas to go get it for free.keep your eyes peeled .thrown away furiture could be gold.all the oak and maple i have came that route.oOn the cabinets push the backing board off and lean on the side and the whole thing collapes for easy pickins!got to take the drawers out too.the sides of thous are maple or oak! perfect size for the scroll saw!

hey jim ,how are you .listen i,m looking at the first pic and sometimes it's like looking at the word fly you see sometime with stategic pieces of the letters missing to play tricks on your eyes .Well the first pic is doing that to me. Is it a matador and a bull ,i fell dumb but i can't see the forest thru the trees ,been a long day ,help me out . when i hear what it is i'm sure i'll bow my head in sorrow to not have seen what it is . The second one is real nice cutting of a unicorn Show piece and a good comversation piece at your outings you go to ,charities ,etc.Don't forget ,i'm dieing to know the first pic! sorry

Great work Jim, there all lookin good.The cowboys brought back memories of standing next to a fence like that .Which made me feel good.The rotored edges are nice ,i can't do that in the apt complex as it's to loud.I see you've been carveing a while now from the date's on the pictures.do you freehand your pictures and then cut or do you have a program you work with like gimp ,etc.Sorry to hear about the truck.Thats alot of money for a repair.Sounds like you ran out of oil or worse.I ran over a board once and just as i got home the oil light came on. The board punctured the oil pan !what luck.Keepum comein your doing a great job with your talant!

Thanks Huntter2022,Steve did have a mop sander i seen.Looks like the perfect tool for us fretwork guys and gals.i have to work on getting one.I guess we need a fine grit one #220 #320?thanks for the come back earlyer it'll come in very use full soon.Not enough time in a day to do all i wanty so any i can save is well earned!Again thanks Huntter2022

I enjoy days more when i learn something i did'nt know and even more when it's something i want to know!All the tips and tricks i keep learning in the forum everyday is making scrolling soooo much easyer. I'd rather spend the time scrolling than sanding because i used the wrong blade.Or a hundred other little quirks that experience will teach you the hard way!But i enjoy it all.Some of these scroll patterns with hundreds of holes scare me ,butthe sooner you get started ,the quicker you finish.I'm at peace with the world when i'm scrolling. Oh the joy of sawing away ,in one hole out the next ,for a long time ,and then the blade breaks ,and so does my heart.BUT when that new blade goes in and tightens up and i'm sawing again how pleasant and nice it is to have a sharp cutting blade again.Thats music to my ears .

I'd like to see the tractor ,that would be my catch of the day!

Great tip i did'nt know about Doug.I went to steve goods site and looked at all the videos but could'nt find one titled flutter wheel .Maybe his flap sander is it ,i don't know . My sound is out tonight so i could'nt listen to see if he said flap wheel flutter wheel were the same.Thanks for that great time saveing tip which i'll use as soon as i find out what it looks like and the cost. i searched the net but was redirected to off the wall sanding stuff.i'll keep trying ,again Thanks DOUG

Hello Bob ,welcome !Looks like you've found a home and the way you talk we'll be learning things from you to.It's really a privledge i treasure coming here everyday.The forum is like an encyclopdia for scrollers.Make sure you go in all the forums to check them out. I found gold in one!I can't remember the forums name completely but the word university was in it's title.so much to learn in there.I don't know the % of young to old scroller but my guess is it favors the older ones.but you young whipper snappers can allways show a trick or too. lol.What scroll saw are you useing ,Thanks for joining

My favorite needle file is a pointed half round one.It fits everywhere.I use a fine wire brush to and move up and down ,and back and forth it cleans up a lot and only leaves the big stuff which saves time from trying to file every nook and crannie.Good question brian!

Magnificent cutting Art,looks picture perfect .That was good luck only useing 4 blades in 6 hours of cutting .Takes about an hour to wear out a blade.But again thats a real nice job you did cutting .

Edward ,That a very very nice piece you did there. At first glance i thought it was an antique!It just gives me that impression.I could'nt tell if all the dark marks,patterns, are wood burnt or scroll sawn .I'll bet your proud of this one!I;ll have to go to your gallery and see what else you've been up too.Good job my friend.

that great jim,seek and you'll find.I'm amazed at how computers find things faster than you can think of them!.There was a carveing magazine i was interested in .Some of the people were carveing caractures that blew me away.What God givin talant!Your in the same boat.It all starts with that first cut!I don't know what kind of time you have to spend with your hobbie.The way it looks your going to be turning out some real masterpieces sooner that you think.Connie can help too! lol :)I've been buying airbrush magazines since 1991 and now have stopped.They are going down hill i my opinion with the dark side of life. Chock full of Evil,death, blood,witchs,devils,serpents in all there issues.Really turned me off.It's a shame,but that leaves more money for scrollsaw blades now!

Mornin Jim,How are you ,Not that it's related but one of the best tools i bought is the "rapid resizer" by patrick.It's free to try for maybe 60 days and no less than 30.it will store all your camera photos,enlarge them shrink them cut and paste them as small are as big as you like, 2'x2"-4' x 4'. and super easy to use once you learn the ropes.Instead of copying things to scroll at 8" x 10" i enlarge them to 18" x 18" with this. also it will turn the pattern into a double line pattern which makes for easy cuting as a guide line to follow. It does photo picture quality too on photo paper .It is the cats butt for a scroller to use.A cat allways walks with it's tail straight up in the air ,i guess it's proud of it's butt and likes to show it off to everybody, lol.It's around 30,40,50,60,bucks .He has a web site that offers it 20 bucks cheaper but that is a long wait to get that one."www.rapid resizer.com "Can you smell the saw dust

Mornin Jim, Scroll saw woodworking and crafts give lot of patterns full size in every issue.These are pretty much scroll saw magazines though . Not sure what your needs are ,carveing, wood burning.

I enlarged to 600% and still could'nt see what was on the plaque but by the look on the gentlemans face he's a happy camper now!you allways turn out great work ,another fine carveing by Jim ,good job

The Hitachi is a beautyful saw and i'd love to try one ,but fat pudgy fingers and hands do make things unuseable.darn .The dewalt dw788 is beautyful to but i have the same problem with that gem too.Maybe a diet is in order.the sears 21609 won't work for me either.Do you know where i can buy a goliath machine at,lol. I'm real happy ,if fact more than happy with the sears 20"c-arm scroll saw.Zero vibration ,passes the nickle test and blows saw dust 8" from the end of the hose .So everything is out of the way when i change blades which makes for smooth sailing when i cut on the dotted line,lol.No more cheap brass bushings to wear out either .this babys got 1/4" needle bearings on the back of the arm . i modified it to accept chain lube from a spray tube into the sealed bearing holder so its lubed for life. I've dreamed of a saw with needle bearings as the bushings wear out way to fast and then you have blade wobble.Model 113.236400 contractor series 20" variable speed with a d.c. servo motor no way of dogin this motor down ,maintains even speed all the time.built to last.hopefully american made but i dont know.

This months scrollsaw woodworking and crafts has a great section covering 23 saw on the market now.i paid $7 buck for the magazine and refer to it alot.Your craftsman is in there but not the hitachi cw40 .I choose not to buy the hitachi because my hand did'nt fit in good to change the bottom blade.Good looking saw but i could not use it.If you've been scrolling allr eady you'll know what to look for ,creature comforts etc.Harbor freight has a central machinery scroll saw that has the same problem and the motor has a mind of its own ,like speed up alot with a little pressure from feeding wood . I just wanted it to hold me over till the dremil got out of the shop.but had to pass on that one ,(bring it back).The magazine has saws from 60 to 2500 bucks. Craiges list down here is loaded with nice new and used saws,good prices too .make sure you enter scroll saw as 2 words otherwise you won't find anything. Hope this help some.good things come to those that wait!I waited along time for a saw that had needle bearing and i found it ,craftsman c-arm 20"for 100.buck on craigs list .This will not wear out like the low price week end warrior saws.
