  1. Very designer style very differant. This is a looker gotta have.I'm sure there's going to be lots of comm ents on this on when worn on outings.Art you out did yourself again.good job !
  2. Great work matt, hopefully they don't have the first two in the dollar stores up there. That might kill those sales. There's plain wood 3" names in there to that hurt me.But our work is on good wood ,hand made and unique, which goes further than the stamped out commercial work.My first show is coming up and we will see how i do with projects from steve good and ssv!Good luck on your show,it's all fun meeting people anyway.Do you have a request box for order at the show?
  3. Hello Chance,If you try the spiral blades get the ones from mike and the ones with flat ends and make them guitar string tight,(high E)Blades with reverse teeth leave a clean cut edge top and bottom, other blades leave a clean edge only on the top.Saves alot of sanding if you need it sanded.
  4. Sheila, That is going to be the center of conversation at the table.ALL eye's will be on that work of craftyness. One of a kind ,never seen before ,that's the ticket!Dare to be differant.I've never seen a halloween item for the table as beautyful as this!Congadulation on another fine job.
  5. Thank You , Thank You!! You have gone the extra mile out of the blue. And a neewbie on top off it! Us aged members really appreciate the new comers chimeing out with their wealth of knowedge to share with us.that info really made my day.i've spent untold hours searching to find all i could about dw788's and you surpass all my expectations of what was out there. That's heart felt dedication for the club. Welcome Welcome to scrollsawvillage!!!And remember just ask!
  6. Hello Chance, Say that info was the best ever.!i'm keeping track of all i can find and you came up with info i don't have .Very interesting too.one thing i have'nt found out yet is the differance between the type 1 and 2 dw788's.your right the saw is the best around for the money with lots of creature features un like other saws.$375.00 is as low as i can find one in town for used. Some are loaded with the jim dandy ,hundreds of blades, light stand etc.i just aquired a sears or craftsman 18" and i should have tryed it first. It looks brand new.but when i tryed to install a blade in the bottom ,my hand was too big to turn the thumb screw, lol. Most saws are like that for me.But my torch or saws all could modifie the opening if need be.I just am happy to have a back up saw. Thanks for posting the gems on the dewalt.iI need ed that info .

  10. Hey jim,With your skills ,determineation and persaverance you'll do fine.God loves a cheerful giver and you give alot.He knows your needs .5 months whew! you are flyin. At that pace the skys the limit.Learn all you can and it will all come together when you need it most.I;m amazed at all the craft shows ,charitys ,radio stations ,give aways you do,your blessed and pass it on to others .They see your handiwork everyday so you briten their days and you don't even know it.Keep on keepin on ,you do great work my friend.
  11. Basically since the recession i've been going full force scrolling .With no work in 3 years i've wore out 7 scroll saws.I've given well over 1500 items that took hours and hours to make and paint just to try and get customers for my handyman skills. Now after looseing all my tools ,3.5 tons worth i am forced to sell my work to make ends meet. It's tough!Craft shows are way to exspensive to get in .We don't have a nickle to spare.Yard sales are a disaster, they push, press twist pick, bend at delicate works and destroy things.Word of mouth is not working either.i'm open for suggestions. :)Touch with your eye's,and look with your fingers!
  12. very very nice brian, is this called segmentation ,i don't know everything ,but this is nice for a puzzle.first hummingbird one i've seen .good job and great painting, osha approved paint ,lol
  13. yeah 3 years plus for me on flat blades i'm going to miss them .you'll laugh at this one .I've been useing flat blades so long and went to sleep and went back to cutting and forgot i was useing a spiral and got to a corner and back pulled to make the turn and the spiral just kept cutting away .i thought i was going to have a heart attack cause i could'nt figure out what was wrong in time to stop damage to the project as nomatter which way i went it was non stop cutting!
  14. That's really really nice art.Way more than i antisapated from the thumb nail.beautyful job on the cutting. Now that i did tony colemans "lords prayer with spirals i don't know if i can go back to turn and spin cutting.About how long did it take to do .what blades and wood? She is so soft looking the way you cut her!
  15. the amazing JIM, buddy how are you,Man what a array of scrolling projects you've done! You don't fool around.Gitter done! You'd be a hard guy to keep up with ,with your determination.I'm going to have to give you an a-plus everytime from now on.How's that scroll saw holdin up.You must have the speed wound out ,as fast as your pumpin out these projects. How many years experience do you have under your belt.Looks like you'd make a good scroll saw teacher too.Yes all things are possiable with prayer.Great job scrollin Jim .You set the pace, need for speed.thats really nice that you have orders waiting.Myself after giving away over a thousand detailed ,fancy ,took hours to make projects you'd think i'd had orders waiting too ,but it's the opposite, guess i'll have to pray about it!
  16. Hi carlton, good advice. The woodcraft store here wants over $200.00 more than a mail order company does for the saw ,light and stand and no matter what your going to have to pay somebody or send for something to get a quick fix. Here at ssv i've copyed all said about dw788's problems and there are alot. Not every machine is going to have them but it's nice to know what is causeing the problem ,where the problem is and what it takes to fix it. A lot of the problems are quick fix but with out ssv's informative forum and the wealth of information at hand just for asking you'll be on your way to scrolling from down time in record time.I am in debt to ssv for all the knowedge iv'e learned and have been able too share with newbies and refined scrollers. If your a do it yourselfer we here at ssv can steer you right at a price you can afford, free!
  17. Hello buddy08,Im very interested in the pro's and con's of this infammous saw.The thing i like about it,though i have never tryed one is that the blade goes straight up and down. Unlike other saws and mine is the worst (but i love it, a c- arm 20") the blade tends to rock in an arc rather than true up and down. BUT you can control this motion to useability, which in my experience is to slow down the saw . Just today i needed to cut some letters on an oval keychain and anything above dead slow will distort your letters badly.the letters i'm talking about are less than 1/4" tall.If there's a will there's a way. When i looked at the dw788 in the woodcraft store here i was not impressed with how little room there is to fit your hand in the bottom blade to change it ,let alone see what your doing.I've read countless sad story's about out of the box dw788 's that i think quality control at the factory is slacking. It's one of the most beautyfull saws around (my favorite color too) I will own one some day and put it threw the mill as i've wore out 7 saws allready in 3 years. If you have lemons make lemonade.Do not let what you do not have, prevent you from useing what you do have.
  18. what a work of art ! i'll bet that was slow cutting useing ash wood.I would'nt sell that one .That's my salad bowl, lol.I know that at a fancy wood sales place here they get top dollar for stuff like that. And when hurricane season comes and knocks down the trees they buy cut wet pieces and turn them into bowl. lots of exotic trees here. You do great work suzieq! what remarkable quality!!!
  19. Holy smoke Jim ,you do puzzles too? Man you are a multi talanted scroller for sure.Hey that puzzle looks factory cut ,you sure YOU did it,lol.Any 2/0 blade is good for puzzles (fyi).Puzzles in a frame look good and are a good carry around show off piece.I tilt the puzzle on a board and grab the top of the puzzle and peel off the puzzle in one piece to show someone and show it by twisting it around to show front and back on 1/4 " puzzles.Their amazed that it holds together.just a selling gimmick!lol.I see your still king midus!good job my friend.Real straight clean cuts and uniform too!
  20. Thats funny .I don't see any saw dust, lol.I'd be in second heaven with all that room to move around in .Nowonder your so busy ,and not one project hanging on the wall cause there all sold. go get em Jim.You talked me into the xmas oranament thing. I have over 60 ready to cut, you?Nice lighting system,i use 2-100 watt flouresants in a clamp on holder clamped onto a magnifying flexable flouresant too. hows that truck doing? The band saw is under the towel to catch flying sanded intarsia pieces!lol
  21. welcome Tim ,Hope you enjoy the new saw,Did you get the jim dandy lift with it to?I just learned about that today ,to help hold up the top arm on the dw788.The forum's the place to learn something new everyday .Can't wait to see your work!Lots of dw788 mecanics here to help you tweek your saw to perfection, just ask!Now go make some saw dust!
  22. Art ,They are all exceptional, the dark wood one stands out as i,ve never seen dark wood on a project and it is very nice cutting.I'm fond of the rejoice one ,thick letters on a routed stand set that one off,but what especially set it off to me is the sharp star, crystal clear razor sharp ,made me look twice. That's alot of blue ribbons for one show!good job my friend.Don't work to hard !
  23. Edward this is one fantastic looking piece .Your cutting skills are super!you brought out all the beauty of the pattern .I'd love to have one stand on my shelve or an even larger one one the wall. That was a great choice to pick that one.Excellant job my friend!Keep em comin!
  24. Just curious Jim,But i noticed a slot cut on the bottom of the bamboo chimes. Is that how you tune them? How mich did the chimes sell for .I like refrence's to look back on for my own priceing guide lines.
  25. Jim that is so kool .And the first name puzzles i've seen .I love all your ideas.I can't wait to do one for the younger set.I really like the looks of the thick base on the name puzzles.makes them stand out more ,bold or something like that.My scrap pile is way down now from oraments,sm. pieces.Show some more of your oraments when you get a chance.
