  1. Great ,. i second the motion. My word is my bond!Thank you santa for the only gift i will receive this and last year. Please stop by my house first this xmas I'll be the one with open arms for the spirals.Just push them under the yellow saw that fell out of your sleigh would be kind enough.Park on the roof if you like as the parking lot is allways full.Try not to wake the wife cause if she see's you with the yellow saw .i'm in trouble.I'll leave alfalfa sprouts on the roof so the reindeer will find the right house.P.s. help your self to the cookies and milk !
  2. Good one David, did you use a spiral?A real show piece.Wait till you frame it .Some brown felt cloth would look nice behind it.
  3. Hi Xray,Could i have your spirals for xmas,i'm allmost out of them.I fell in love with them recently.I have never tryed stack cutting with them as they are sensitive to any movement.I am amazed at the responce of them cutting thin stock1/4" or less.I swore against them for 4 years and now found ,thru a member the trick to useing them.I don't think they would be good for stack cutting but really don't know haveing not tryed it.I do extremely large projects with the spirals as there is no other blade that will allow me to do projects 36"x36".Don't give up the ship yet.
  4. Art you got my mouth watering to get an ol yeller!Keep us posted on your infamous machine surgery's.I love the hands on approach!
  5. Aha! My favorite qoute,"If it's not broke don't fix it".How many times have i taken something apart and put it back together and it not broke now. No rhyme or reason . And how many times have i taken something apart and rendered it totaly useless!you were lucky this time!
  6. What a great idea! i can't wait to try and save my mineral spirits for something else.
  7. That is one remarkable portrait, the depth in the face jump out of the wood.most unusual high quality patterning. For a portrait ,this has got to be number one in my book.Freike you have the incredible knack to personify the best of the best in all you touch. Most amazing, is this pattern looks more like Zahra baker than she does, and that's a good thing.Your the greatest ever in art in any fortay.this is a very touching heart felt pattern that should win awards .I can't wait to acquire more ink so this one can be in my portfolio as the leader of the show.A shrine needs to go around this portraite,no everyday frame will do.My hat is off to you for the extra effort you've gone to make this a touching memorial portrait.
  8. Real nice cutting Jim ,picture perfect.I was thinking do you incorporate wood burnings into you scroll work to add more realizim to them, just a thought. They don't need any improvement ,i was just wondering how that would look seeing as your an ace at wood burnings.I think it would look super ,and it makes the eye's want to rove around searching for some small detail they have'nt seen .I like to dig deep looking at something.Your wood burning make me do that , they are the best of the best i've seen, you are one of the best here at ssv!
  9. Goodn hunting Rob, Most places want 15 to 20 bucks for a foot switch.I found at big lots one for 4.00.i bought 6 of them and am real happy .all my power table top tools are foot operated now .It's a nice creature comfort.I wish i could find a low price laser guide for the drill press,i know you don't need one but everybody likes toys. You'll need a dremil plunge drill press as table drill drill presses only let you get in about 8" from the edge of your projects.Anything but the dremil is going to cost quite a bit more .I happy for you on the ss350!The top arm on this saw has no lube point so try to figure out about where it will be so you can drill a small hole to shoot some lube in once in a while to make it last. It's all ways the top arm that suffers from strain and it's the weakest point.Down load the schematic of the ss350 so you can see where i'm talking about.there's a linking arm connecting the bottom arm to the top arm and where it connects to the top arm is where it will need lube. With out a blade in your saw ,lift up and down on the top arm,to feel for play . it should be minimal.1/8th ".when it gets to 1/4" play you'll have to cut your blades shorter to make up for the sloppyness of the wear of the top arm in the back of the machine.look for the picture of your saw guts at "www.replacement parts .com ".hope this helps to make your saw last as long as possible.Carefull with the quick set blade holders on the ss250,ss350 saws.Too tight and it will explode apart and you'll never find the little spring,or the wire clip that holds it all together.when i lost mine i used rubberbands to hold it together and it worked better than the factory set up. if there's a will there's a way.Where part 35 meets part 36 is where you put lube! That's the trouble spot!
  10. Hello Rob, how you doing now, accidents are pretty much all down hill if you let it.I have been after the delta ss350 you 3 plus years now.I've seen words and micro letters done on them that make me sigh!there a few members here that have them. the quick set 2 blade holders are really nice ,no foolin around to do this and that ,just open and close very fast.I just want to scroll and forget about playing with allen wrenchs and rear blade tention adjustments.lock and load .that's what makes my day.I used the ss250 for a year and wore it out . that one took the allen wrench to loosen the bottom blade.$50.00 bucks for a chinese used scroll saw is my limit.most of the low price ones are chinese.Get your feet wet and try one ,there not that bad .But once you taste sweet it's tough to use a lesser quality one.Keychains ,names and dog stuff sold the best for me.Welcome home This is the place to be for novice and seasoned scrollers .Everyday i learn something in scrollsawvillage(ssv).Nose around everywhere to see what in there is a quick way to know whats available to you for use.open up your own user gallery right away to store photos, patterns and projects . :)Double your money and then some by makeing a dollar puzzle.
  11. you need a back up saw to stay happy when one breaks,up front and on top speed controls and on off switch is a plus, low vibration and noise is a plus,a vacumn hook up is nice allen wrench blade tightening tools are a no no. Rear blade tention adjustments are not desirerable.all saws will do the job like a rolls royce and a v.w. will get you to where your going.lights and air blowers are pretty much wothless so an add on of them is nice. Definetly a foot on off switch is in demand.tilt table is nice if you need it,angle your saw forwards so you can see the lines easyer with wood or etc.an adjusable chair that swivels helps,Make sure you can get to all the moveing parts to oil as thats the key to make it last.Easy access to the bottom blade holder is hard to find on low price saws,i can't use a hitachi, sears ,ryobe, ohioforge because of that problem .I need a 4" hole to get my hand in.
  12. Wow that purple paint really hides a lot of sins, lol.Just kidding .I think i'd like to borrow your saw by the looks of things.I'm going to send you an order soon at this rate.People will be knocking your door down and saying me first to get their portraits and such from you.See now you walk the walk too.Put the call sing next to kitty ,that's two under your belt now.I wanna see some trains scrolled out soon.Keep at it ,your going far fast!great job Steven atta boy!
