no ,Marg is the lucky devil as i was about to ask her if i could borrow her machine for awhile because i'm scroll saw butcher lol Thanks Art i thought maybe you'd loan me your wooden gun to put ol' yeller out of it's misery. Can you believe this guy would use a ryobe scroll saw instead of ol yella.Good greef i think he has a few cards missing.when i tryed the dw the day before i made sure i did as detailed test to show him what the saw can do.How about 1/16th wide lines, spaced 1/16th apart next to each other up and down on a scrap piece of wood.i took the wood sample over to him and said i don't think the saws much good for detail work, his jaw droped open looking at what i had done in a quick second! thanks Travis this switch have been in the works a long time And who would have though i could get this saw with no money and in the middle of the recession and out of work 4 years!Somebody is in the miricule business and we all know who that is.Keep looking up!i have'nt broke a blade yet. This saw is the saw of all saws!quality plus.thanks everybody for all the info ,talk and picture about the dw recently.it really worked my mind over and won me over to do what i got to do to get a dw.This saw is top banana!

Thanks Clayton 717,Dan and Toolbeltman,Feels good nowto run with the big dogs now.I was broke in on chinese saws and they did the job but not for long. Now with the dewalt things are smooth as silk in all ways.I had no idea what it's like to saw with a good machine let alone own one. I only tryed it yesterday and had to do something to change the owners mind to give it up.Funny thing is he saws on a chinese saw ,go figure.the way he demonstrated it to me i could see he was haveing problems with it(dw788).he scrolled so slow ,maybe a 1/4 inch a minute.why ,because he never even got close to proper tention and the speed was dead slow too .He left the blade so sloppy you had to go slow to keep from breaking it.He had big problems putting a blade in it as he would do the bottom first ,which is the hardest way to go about doing it.But my intarsias were wall decoration and i needed the saw and he wanted the intarsia's so everybodys happy but i got the worst of the deal ,which was no big deal.My friend ( a differant one)feed's me from the food bank and delievers it and he too takes my good stuff in exchange ,no big deal i'm at least eating when i could'nt so it all works out ,.Friends helping friends.what ever he like's at the moment i give it to him.there all practice pieces anyway . .

Thanks Brett ,i had to duct tape the grin off my mouth to try and sleep with out catching fly's.the first project escaped my hands as it was steve good's flag and soldier thanking veterans .I started a while back but needed a better saw to do the detail work.the dewalt said is that all you want me to do.The pattern i had, had double lines REAL close together and the dewalt went right down the center like nobodys business.I am flabergasted at the absolute straight up and down movement of the saw.Absolutely no blur .In 9 saws i've owned this is the norn to see the blade blurry. What a joy to use and own this machine!I modified the bottom blade holder as the thin blades would hang up on the two obstructions. One being the adjusting tightening screw and the other is the set screw directly in front of that . so i backed out the set screw so it's flush with the holder ,and now i just go to the left to insert the blade and not in between the two.makes it much easyer as with 2/0 and smaller you can't feel if your touching something or not. This saw makes absolutely zero noise.i think the neighbors will throw a party now that they don't have to hear the hum of kevin working hard again. The nerve ,i give them all the free saw dust they want.nobody else here even offers to do that.

Times are a changein,Santa arrived early yesterday over loaded with my wish list!He really upgraded from reindeer to 5 on the floor and american made rubber tired sleigh.Seems his elf's took my first intarsias off the wall and trade even steven for the dw788.that's fine with me as they got all my mistakes ,sloppy fits and hodged podged together make believe intarsia's for the yella beast.Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!I twisted no arms, told no lies or beat around the bush!when he seen what i had to trade the words tsunamied out his mouth WE GOT A DEAL!and thrust out his hand to confirm the deal.Works for me.you know it's a funny thing that what ever i make seems to sell and at the price i want.Humm! You should see the insides of this guy condo.everything is the best of the best in art work and hand crafted items. Before you get to his door there's where he put "the dog in the shoe " that i did.I can't believe my works are in his art louv now!

hello marion and welcome to the "scroll saw village"You'll fit right in as we all ask question often.i too fell in love with a scroll saw and would'nt want to do anything else! We'd like to see what your first project was ,and remember to save it as a memorbilia of where you were in the start of your hobby!Be carefull what you wish as it may come true!Sounds like your moving right along scrolling and getting free wood.I look out for furniture as a sourse of free wood.Baby bed cribs are perfect for keychains as there a hard wood.Sides of drawers are usually maple or oak and the perfect size to go it the scroll saw.food coloring or rit dye does a nice fumeless coloring of the wood.Lots of tips come up in the forum daily and you can add some that work for you too.glad you found us ,were here to help you have a good time with your new found hobby!

Good man Art ,well said,I appreciate all the info you and others have posted on the dw788.from yours and mine and others experiences here in ssv a word to the wise is sufficient enough for me!Micky moused is a red flag to get out of the deal.thanks for enlightening me as i was facinated with the new toy and yellow is my favorite color which enticed me all the more to want it.My dremil has the screw tightening blade holders which i hate and have a brand new one compliments from dremil to honor their warranty under the bench catching saw dust.it'll be my back up saw when the time comes,i never used it and it came with a brand new extra top arm ,new connecting link and new roll pins all for free to satisfiy my request for selling a chinese junk .Dremil is owned by bosch now.I love my sears 18" blade holders ,it's a new model maybe 2 years old.i grabs hold of regular spirals without straightening them like nobodys business. the only thing dewalt has going for itis the double linking arms for vibration free sawing, tilting both way table and blade tention adjustment ease. I haven't need to raise the arm on any projects i do so maybe that might be an added feature for some projects, which ones i don't know.

Well i knew it would happen someday, that day is today.i finally got a chance to use a dw788.the guy wanted $345.00 for it and welcomed me down to try it out.He knew i have no money but was interested in some of my trades. He tryed to show me how to operate it and he never would tighten the blade near tight enough and kept breaking them.i knew something was wrong the way the top arm vibrated.I'm used to quick blade changes and am disapointed in the dewalt's set up.It really needs a clamp holder instead of a bolt ends touching the blade .This is a big problem especially if your using spirals without flat ends.i was enthralled at how straight up and down the blade moved, with out any blur at all.In 8 saws i've gone through i have never seen this phenomena. The machine had plenty of slop on the top and bottom of the upper front blade pivot points but had nothing to do with perfect cuts everytime.there were missmatched bolts and even plexi glass glued to the top of the table to make sliding wood around easyer.he had glued a large cap on to the top blade tightening screw and that worked out good. The table seem to sloppy when put at an angle as i think there's a bushing missing under the tightening knob to shim up the sloppyness in the degree dial and keep the table aligned properly. It broke my heart to miss out on this saw ,but it's not sold yet..For a nother hundard and a half i think with a warranty and being brand new i would rather have the new saw .Does anyone have a differant blade holder set up for the dewalt?

Hello Art ,I watched your cutting video and left a message but it says it could not be posted to the wall?I was wondering why you ,after makeing a cut ,would turn the piece over every single time?idiosyncresy? lol I never heard a dw788 run are they that quiet? These video's that turn up now and then are relaxing to watch a moveie about the trade in action!Do another one! You are one careful scroller.

I was thinking of what someone else 's thought's are on this.A sign of a happy scroller is when they can't see over the top of to do patterns .
-
Nice job xray ,when detail get to be a problem i enlarge the pattern so it won't be.Large feathers on the wall would look good .I never knew what colors look best as a backing but i thing lucky2 has the right idea as black go's with anything. Steve good taught me that if your skill are not real good for detail don't go so close.Michael jackson on tip toes from steve goods patterns was a problem for me as the legs get critical being long and skinny close together.after i heard this advice it works out good for me.

Thank you Brett,Hellen and brian.I feel like royalty with all these kind comments. It's most encourageing!.Brett that's the perfect quick and easy free trivial gift for folks who vist my stand.3 piece kids puzzles.I'll have to make tanks of food coloring to dip them in another quick and simple idea from ssv!I ordered in and refillable cartridges for cheap from buy ink now or ink 123 on e-bay at a real fraction of the copy store prices and can do 5 times more copys for 10 times less.I won't get it in time to hammar out xmas items for sale but i'll try to get ready to hammar stuff out when it gets here.To buy 5 ink cassettes 2 blk.3 color from the copy store in epson it's $95.00.The same thing and fill your own from buy ink now is $28.00and you can fill it allmost 5 times with the ink that comes with it.So allready i save $560.00 and it cost me $28.00.an ssv member showed me this trick.thay' the deal of a life time.

My guess is $300.00
