    Thanks Rob Roy,going to be awhile before i can lift that c-arm up again.But when i get the stump out in the middle of my outdoors shop it will happen.i have the wood for a floor to roll everything around with njust to much work to do to do it !

    If the blade snags going thru use a bigger drill. 99% of the time i use a 1/16th drill bit.

    Top feeding should be for arms that don't move up or down like the low priced saws.

    On the dw 788 why do you need the arm to be able to raise way up and out of the way ,except for threading the blade thru the bottom easyaly?

    Ok now i understand the difference.I'm a BOTTOM FEEDER with the dw788 and all the other almost dozen saws i've had.I don't want to deal with fastening the blade where i can't see what's going on.Especially with wood keeping the blade from being straight up and down.

    My guess is your not having to deal with allen wrenches to change blades.This was a $700 .saw way back when.

    Ok somebody put more water in the soup,we've got company now!Wow newbie starting off with an Excalibur,lucky duck!Looks like he's a diehard scroller with three scroll saws under his belt already..That's a lot of saw dust that's been sawn.I'd like to see that pile of dust too.With 8 years of scrolling knowedge he'll be filling in the blanks in the forums when they occur.Glad to have you sir!

    With threading the blade from the top down i have big problems trying to get the blade straight with wood on it, keeping it from being straight .Having the blade locked and loaded in the bottom already i don't have to blindly try to do that.I'd just as soon deal with what i can see on top of the scrollsaw table and can also slide the wood easyer to keep the blade straight before i lock it in place.
