Yes ,certainly ,I agree with everyone's comments on #3 BUT did he have to dress him in the Emperor's new clothes?Rob your a mighty fine scroller and an asset to the club in such a short time!

and the blades used were the scroll reverse #3 from Flying Dutchman blades This is the first one i stained of all the ones i made and gave away.Its a mix of little half pint cans red mahogany ,maple,red oak,Tung oil and bright maple . I ended up with a light chestnut.I'm happy with that.I used to collect paint that people threw out and painted many homes with it .They'd tell me what color they would like and i come very close to it. My theory of mixing was a drop of one color equals a gallon So a few drops of this and that write it down show the color samples and we have a happy camper.The drop method was quicker than doing it gallon by gallon with no waste except a drop or two. worked for me for years.This project took about an hour too.

Cut this in about an hour with the #3 scroll reverse blade from Flying Dutchman blades This is the spruce stain grade from Lowes that's wrapped in plastic, 16" width. No idea where the pattern came from .

Did this in less than an hour today, I could do more but just as soon as i take a bite to eat i'm knocked out in the b e d for an hour to the minute.No idea where this pattern came from as is was going thru the pictures and wanted to cut this for the landlady.I used a scroll reverse #3-5 on this as the wood is harder than the spruce ,maybe cypress.I threw out three huge bags of scrap pieces from what got scrolled in the past weeks.Trying to make room for the exercise machine to go out side and bring in the newest aquired 20" craftsman scroll saw i got for doing the 33" lobster. I never tryed it yet. I owe you pictures of it soon.Wait,i have the craigs list picture of it right now.I had one before but the foot switch i had wasnt the best and it would go on off in succession to many times and blew the board.I loved it dearly.It replaced the brand new dremil i wore out in a year .dremil sent a brand new one and i wore that out in two months.i put a new top arm and connecting link in it and there it sits on the shelve as a back up.Here's the sceond c-arm i just got,

Dick i thank you ,It's a very easy one to cut and in less than an hour With a scroll reverse#3 on the Dewalt speed of 5. I now spray the glue on the back of the pattern ,let tack then press on .This way there is lots less glue on the project, it's self. I knew this before, but absence from scrolling you forget the tricks you use everyday.this one is in 3/4" spruce stain grade .It comes wrapped in clear plastic at the big box store ,lowes and the price is right ! They come in 6'-8'-10' and maybe 12'lenghts and 10"-12" and 16" widths.I save all the scrap for little people stands mostly.I need to set of a third router table just for cutting the slot in the oval scraps that i stick the little people in with glue.The older i get now all the walking and project steps i can save makes for more enjoyable scrolling quality time.I wish i could wear headphones to listen to my religious station .but then i won't here the phone.

I so sorry I was over exaggerating again. I've done plenty of compounds, but whet way over the hill on trying to understand what you were saying ,Compounds are fun and i'm on the look out for white pine 2" x 4" just for that purpose. Haven't found any in a while.Thisvis just the ticket I'm looking for as the landlady says to do dollar projects rather that the big dollar items to sell in her store .Makes sense!.The taxi drivers all want the big dollar airport runs when you can accomplish the same in small runs!Thanks again for the tip on low buck items to sell.Most everybody except me ha pocket change!

Hi Scott, I'm dying to try watering down food coloring, but found out that a Tupperware container with lots of stain in speeds up the staining process immensely by soaking the project in it rather than splash and scrub and dab, etc the stain to get everything covered. Then i pour it back in the can.I used to get extra wide rolls of aluminum cooking foil and make a little tray under and around the project and pour in the stain, then tilt it up and poke a hole in the foil and drain it back in the can .Works for me great with fret work ,you don't miss a spot that way.

Ok ,now put some more water in the soup we got company from Canada now.!Whatcha been doing in the way of wood Lucas?What kind of saw have you got!We have folks here that turn out work as good or better than the best you'll find here with a hand fret saw non electric that's incredible!Glad to have another warm body join in the fun here.I wouldn't miss a day ever if possible.I've wore out lots and lots of scroll saws having the time of my life scrolling.Post some pictures of your work if you have some.Welcome friend!
