  1. Made this for my nieces and nephews for christmas, wood is poplar, finish is tung oil, rose and deer scene came from Microsoft word clip art. letter were also made with microsoft word, but using word art.
  2. Kevin, great cutting, for the backer i would suggest, my opinion, is go to the crafts section at walmart and get some felt, they have all kinds of colors, 47 cents each, or 3-4 bucks for a pack of 12 (could be more), and use some thin wood like luan 1/4 or less wood, glue the felt on it with adhesive spra, then either hot glue or wood glue it to the piece. that is what i do. or you can get some very small staples to attach beacker... just my 2 cents worth, again, great cutting.
  3. lol Kevin, nope no silver spoon, just a poor navy brat that been to 8 different states while growing up, my barn is pretty big, plus its 2 story, i got the wood stacked up on the wall, with shelving i made, so far i only has the scroll, router, table saw, jig saw, sander, and dremel, im looking for a lathe, drill press now.

  9. Kevin, The wood burner i have is just a walmart special type, one temp, but i have about 6-8 different tips, newest tip i bought was a detailer, i want a variable temp control burner, but thats some $$$$ there. Ive been wood burning for about 3 yrs now, first thing i ever did, didnt know anything about shading back then, so i painted them.... but it defeated its purpose, couldnt see the wood burn part. then i bought a wood burning book by Lora S. Irish, and it has helped me tremendously. Jim

  12. i use Microsoft word, word art, i insert each letter at a time, then when all the letter are on the page, i will format each letter to take it behind text, that way it will be movable to either enlarge each letter or decrease the size, then i just play around with each letter so that it will look right, then i print it, scan it back to computer, then use gimp paint tool to fill in each letter.i take it to 200% and enlarge the brush to 19 then i start, of course smaller brush for the smaller areas, if there is more then 1 line, i will make most of the letters touch the top line, to give it strength. hope this helps some one, its harder to put in words then actually doing it
