  1. clayton, its from africa, its a hard wood to cut, i saw a pic looks a bit like afzelia, but lumber yard thinks its LEOPARD WOOD so i dunno

Kevin, thanks man, no the ring isnt burned, the ring is zebra wood, it has the stripes like zebras, will be making another box today for the radio dj's that i made the keychains and portraits for, plus im trying to get them to have a contest for the radio listeners, to win a free family of 4 scroll saw portrait.
  4. the box pattern original by Steve Good, changed it up to make them personnal for the orders.the frog and butterfly pattern is from Steve Goods site. The ring pattern is from Steve Good site, ring is zebra wood, finished in beeswax, the boxes are birch and 1/4 red oak inside (backing) outside stained in maple the backers stained in walnut. great patterns thanks Steve
  5. hey all, i need some help, i need to know what kind of wood this is, i got 2 trash cans full of scraps from a place called peach state lumber and this piece was in it, once i get the name of it, im gonna start making rings with it, the guy told me at the lumber yard, but i cant remember, i did email the company, no reply yet, if you know, help... thanks all Jim

  7. Glen, Brett, Kevin, Thanks for the replies, its very much appreciated. Kevin actually i do all the directing editing etc, since my wife works, i agree the reaching in back to tighten blade is a pita, i am waiting on our w-2 forms so we can file, and with the refund im getting a new saw, craftsman 18 in, the tension knob is in the front. i think its 210 bucks, I did make some booboos on it, but it still came out nice, thanks again all Jim
  8. Pattern was in the holiday issue of scroll saw magazine compound cut also have the video of me making them at http://www.youtube.com/jimg3670 this took about a week, wood is pine, light color is maple stain, other is walnut stain will be making the chess board in a few days hope yall like
  9. lol Kevin, yeah one of my online friends that lives in virginia wanted her nieces names made in a puzzle, so i made the first two with microsoft word, then gimp, she liked it, then she wanted the alphabet made for the same nieces, then my sis in law ordered 2 name puzzles, its a big hit with the kids, Marshall, thank for the feed back, mucho appreciated, im loving it, even tho the alphabet puzzle was cut from red oak... it was a pain in the #(*(*@ broke a few blades thanks again guys, if yall havent yet i would suggest yall make the puzzles.. show the family/kin betcha you just might get a few orders.

Kevin, Brett and Marg, thanks for the compliments, yeah saw is runnin better but still having some issues now the cap that the dust blower plugs into on top of arm, the little spicet broke off, so now i have to order another one, Yeah been doing alot of orders, them name puzzles or NAMZELS as I call em are a big hit, plus im making a few videos for youtube. thanks again

To all of you on this forum my wife and I wish each one of you a very joyous merry Christmas, thanks to those that have helped me thru out the year with patterns, etc. To my secret santa, i know i cant know who you are, but i do appreciate the gift, we really like it, specially the card holder, that went over big with my wife Connie. I will try to post more on here soon, but if not hope yall have a great holiday, and a happy new year. To travis, thank you for this site, its a great forum, with alot of knowledgeable members.   16. pattern by steve good, box is made of pine, and sandeply, with dragon scrolled out on lid, dragon wall hanging cut on sandeply, backing on plywood used a 2 part resin mix to finish

  18. Does any one use the satelitte compay hugesnet for broad band, im thinking of going with them, but i hear bad stories, mainly, but have heard some good, so im torn on what to do, thanks

  20. pattern by Steve Good, it was a great pattern, easy to follow direction the lid and box fretwork is of plywood inside covers are sandeply, fretwork stained in red mahagony, sandeply cherry stained, hot glued and nailed together with brads original pattern has merry christmas on the side, i replaced it with Kayla, the person i will give it too, and on the lid has mary and baby Jesus, i replaced it with another Steve Good pattern of 2 birds and leaves.

Kevin, lol, yeah im laffing all the way to the bank... to fix my wifes oops, she was just a wee bit in the red the other day, sad to say all of them i done is for Christmas presents, except the tree, it took too long and it was a pita i used smallest reverse tooth blade, spirals (im out of blades) so i had to shimmy around alot, get all parts cut, i liked the tree so much i am keeping it, and we will actually have it hanging year round, since i do love the winter and snow (which we hardly ever get) ok im babblin here, thanks again guys:thumbs: Jim
  24. Hey all, i am looking to find a tutorial, cd, etc, on how to make a fretwork design pattern, i have no idea on how to get started, only thing i can do is fretworked names/signs, but im lookig forward to designing , if any one can help, let me know, thanks
