  1. We received this order yesterday from our tax lady, and delivered it to her today, its a portrait think of her grandson.. she loved it

John, i admire you for doing that, as i am mentally disabled, with depression, anxiety, ocd and borderline personnality disorder, thus the reason i am getting a SSDI check. you are doing a great thing helping kids. We as a business help out our local womens battered center portion of proceeds benefit them. Thanks from all of us that has a handicap of some kind or another, for doing your part. me thinks you got your angels wings already.. Jim
  3. hey all, thanks for the replies on the help, well i took it to home depot, they thought it was mahagony, that wasnt it, so i went to lowes, front desk told me to go back to the flooring dept, where they have exotic wood, and they put the piece of wood next to all their wood, and the closest we can come to is chestnut, same exact grain and all, but we will make a trip to where i got the wood from soon as my truck is fixed again, so i guess for now this is one of the world's mysteries that just don't want to be solved. thanks again all Jim

Oges, go to your local stations website, and get a pic from it of the djs, thats what i did for the first time, and then i took them to the morning show djs, they loved it, also use the pattern by steve good (his merry christmas box) and make your own pattern of the stations logo/motto, the dj's and one of the owners of the station, loved the box, i used 1/2 inch birch for them, and the top lid piece and bottom piece is the same size, dw, thanks man, we will get a plug prolly tomorrow, we kindof gotten to the station late, about quittin time for the morning crew.... pics of the dj me and my wife below sad to say i bent my knees a bit so i wouldnt stand so tall, well i still look like a giant with them 2 short persons, lmaooooooooooooo
  6. Dale, yeah the pattern said it is made for 1/8 wood, and the way some of the pattern is has that other pieces go into each other, hard to explain, but all i did is made them wider by 1/8 so 1/4 would fit in them. sorry if that dont make sense, but it is hard to explain, thanks

  8. i need some help, i bought this pattern from pedro of finescrollsaw.com, and the pattern is for 1/8 wood, i will be using 1/4 inch wood, how do i scale the pattern to fit 1/4 ich wood (birch) its the windmill clock pattern, i have a kodak printer, if neone knows what % to scale it, would be great, thanks in advance Jim

  13. clayton, its from africa, its a hard wood to cut, i saw a pic looks a bit like afzelia, but lumber yard thinks its LEOPARD WOOD so i dunno

Kevin, thanks man, no the ring isnt burned, the ring is zebra wood, it has the stripes like zebras, will be making another box today for the radio dj's that i made the keychains and portraits for, plus im trying to get them to have a contest for the radio listeners, to win a free family of 4 scroll saw portrait.
  16. the box pattern original by Steve Good, changed it up to make them personnal for the orders.the frog and butterfly pattern is from Steve Goods site. The ring pattern is from Steve Good site, ring is zebra wood, finished in beeswax, the boxes are birch and 1/4 red oak inside (backing) outside stained in maple the backers stained in walnut. great patterns thanks Steve
  17. hey all, i need some help, i need to know what kind of wood this is, i got 2 trash cans full of scraps from a place called peach state lumber and this piece was in it, once i get the name of it, im gonna start making rings with it, the guy told me at the lumber yard, but i cant remember, i did email the company, no reply yet, if you know, help... thanks all Jim

  19. Glen, Brett, Kevin, Thanks for the replies, its very much appreciated. Kevin actually i do all the directing editing etc, since my wife works, i agree the reaching in back to tighten blade is a pita, i am waiting on our w-2 forms so we can file, and with the refund im getting a new saw, craftsman 18 in, the tension knob is in the front. i think its 210 bucks, I did make some booboos on it, but it still came out nice, thanks again all Jim
  20. Pattern was in the holiday issue of scroll saw magazine compound cut also have the video of me making them at http://www.youtube.com/jimg3670 this took about a week, wood is pine, light color is maple stain, other is walnut stain will be making the chess board in a few days hope yall like
  21. lol Kevin, yeah one of my online friends that lives in virginia wanted her nieces names made in a puzzle, so i made the first two with microsoft word, then gimp, she liked it, then she wanted the alphabet made for the same nieces, then my sis in law ordered 2 name puzzles, its a big hit with the kids, Marshall, thank for the feed back, mucho appreciated, im loving it, even tho the alphabet puzzle was cut from red oak... it was a pain in the #(*(*@ broke a few blades thanks again guys, if yall havent yet i would suggest yall make the puzzles.. show the family/kin betcha you just might get a few orders.

Kevin, Brett and Marg, thanks for the compliments, yeah saw is runnin better but still having some issues now the cap that the dust blower plugs into on top of arm, the little spicet broke off, so now i have to order another one, Yeah been doing alot of orders, them name puzzles or NAMZELS as I call em are a big hit, plus im making a few videos for youtube. thanks again
