  1. Got a nice pattern from Spirithorse, and am working on that this weekend. I found a pattern for an ornament with angel on it, and cut that out, and am making a hanger from pine to send down. Will see how the "crying angel" comes out. I have picture of the angels I carved, just got to figure out how to post them on the site. Haven't posted pictures in long time. Jim B
  2. Hi there, just went through the patterns, any one have an Angel pattern? I do mostly wood carving, but, my sister down in Texas has another lady friend that has her cancer come back and nothing they can do for her. ( no insurance and senior) I have a couple of angels I carve but, haven't made any scrolled angels. Thought it would be nice to do one of those. thanks Jim B
  3. well done! Looks great. Jim B
  4. Well done! Very nice, mountings are excellent. jim B
  5. Nice box, very good lettering! Was that a stencil?? I do the same but with spackling on my carvings on the bases. Then I take some wooden dowels and pencils points and work on the spackling to put designs in it.. Never done clay. Jim B
  6. Hi there, welcome to the forum!! Little hot down there in Texas! This is a great place to learn and lots of help available. Jim B
  7. that is a great idea!! I carve golf balls after taking half the cover off. This way it gives me a couple of great idea's! Love your stuff, I didn't see that magazine, I have been looking for the new issue, but, our stores aren't carrying, carving or scrollsaw mags anymore. Our Kroger grocery use to carry this magazine, but, haven't seen it since maybe April or May. Jim B
  8. Very nice work. I like the pocket watch too, have to make myself one. (tired of giving everything away!) What size is the box? Great finish. Jim B
  9. leaves 6 foot somewhere, that would make a nice addition to a home somewhere! Jim B
  10. Hi there from Michigan, USA. Wish my wife would get interested in this. Good for you, I am sure you will have a good time. There are some plans around for horse drawn Sleighs. I have to look for my old stage coach drawings. Jim B
  11. Hello there, welcome to the forum! Where are you located? That would help recommending a saw for you. Jim B
  12. Hi there from Michigan. Welcome to the forum. jim
  13. I was looking at that one. Wondering if their stuff is going to hold up? I read reviews on a lot of power tools at HF and seems a lot of their stuff is very cheaply made. 99 or 69 is still lot of money if something isn't going to hold up very long. Please post how it works and in a while if you run into problems. Jim B
  14. Hi there from Brighton, still sounds like a great saw! They have a link here to a couple great courses on Inkscape and Gimp2. Jim B
  15. I've seen the picture in the magazine! Very well done, and LOTS of work on it. Great job! Jimm B
  16. For golf balls, I made a little jig for my bandsaw. I took a 2 x 4 x 8" long, in center, cut a round golfball shape in center. In the center of that I bandsawed a 1/8" deep relief. I set the blade to float just outside of this relief and clamp the 2 x 4 to my table. I turn the golf balls by hand against the blade, it can float in and out, cuts slowly, you need to bump around and set it. Not as hard as it sounds. I do two turns, 2nd cut is cleaning out some of the melted ball. Then dremel out the melted ball to clean the groove. Two screw drivers work off one of the half covers. I do about 10 or 15 at a time, so have a bank and fill in carving. I have about 20 carved right now, (I give them away usually when I have people over) and 10 more waiting for me when I want to carve something different. I am trying to master Inkscape so I can do my own patterns but, have a devil of a time with the lettering. Trying to separate letters. Keep forgetting how to do it. Getting old I guess. Jim B
  17. Glad you like them, I do more carving then scrolling, have to practice my turns. There are some great scroller's here and I am not up to their standards yet. Jim
  18. thank you, I tried to put more pictures on but, was lucky to get on on and it didn't show up on the preview. oh well got to figure out which thing to click on. I am going to make a small Christmas stand for scollsaw ornaments so I can take them to my carving club. I have one for carvings and make one for these to show them off. jim B

  22. Okay thanks, I am going to give it a shot. Have the 4 month old granddaughter for two days this week, and she doesn't sleep! So will try next week. thanks again Jim
  23. great looking box! You don't need pulls on the drawers? But very well done! Jim B
  24. great idea and glad you got a big order. You have great glue lines, no gaps seen at all. Try finding the same thing at Target or Walmart with the crap from China. that is one big knife block though looks great. Jim B
  25. I am going to try cutting a few family portraits for the three year old grandsons to put together, simple puzzles not the 100 piece. Do you wrap the photo surface with packing tape before cutting? Or just leave clear and cut then put some kind of finish on it? was wondering if the tape would stay on or wreck the puzzle. Jim B
