  1. ALWAYS GET A % OF THE TOTAL COST TO COVER EXPENCES OF ALL MATERIALS OR YOUDON'T DO THE JOB AND WHEN THEY ASK FOR A CHANGE RAISE THE PRICE AND ASK FOR MORE MONEY DOWN, THIS DISCOURAGES CHANGE AND MAKE ALL DPWN PAYMENT AS NON REFUNDABLE

  6. THEY ARE DIFFERENT. HOW MUCH WOUILD YOU SELL THEM FOR I DON.T THINK THEY WOULD GO IN THIS AREA AND I HAVE BEEN RONG BEFORE, YOU COULD HAVE THEM FASENDED TO THE WALL AND COULD HAVE FOR THE HOUSE YARD TRCTOR TRUCK ECT. THEY MIGHT GO HERE IN THIS AREA.
  7. welcome from Ohio. one thing we like here is pictures God., bad, funny, show your saw, A $30 saw is worth seeing, and it won't be long till you will be getting a better one, this is a good place to get information, patterns, and of cores a ribbing one in a while.
  8. I don't go out of my way for special orders, And when I get one Tell them I m too busy to take the order right now give them your e mail address and tell them to right down what they want I then accept the order and state payment deposit then, Most of the time they don't bother, which suits me fine. Special orders are a big pain in the butt, after all thei is a hobby and I go to craft sales to make expenses I give most of my finished project away.
  9. Try a easier patterns first, The hardest thing is circles and curves. It takes several tries to get them right. The circles is where the mistakes show up . But if you try portraits first use 6 mm plywood. some people try harder project first and get discouraged amd say I can't do it. and quit, and miss the enjoyment that scrolling gives them
  10. Get the biggest that you can afford. for me the 16 inch is not big enough and I never start any thing that a 20 inch can't handle, very seldom do I see something that large .
  11. A friend ask me the other day if I could use some sandpaper he has more than he can use, I said I sure could , Well yesterday I saw him and and he gave me a roll of 150 grit sand paper, 6 inches wide and 50 yards long He found several of them in his barn. don't know where it came from. a nother good find this week,

    saw mill

You sure are lucky. I get my popular from Paxton woods in Madera Ohio. It runs me about $2.45 a board ft. so the freebie saves you a lot of money,
  16. I have been scrolling off and on for about 30 years and still learning. I have used 16' saws but it limits what I can do I now have a 20 inch DeWalt 788 which is a very good saw. and sometimes I wish I had a 24 inch, I recommend nothing less than a 20 inch.
  17. Start charging a little for the Names, At lest enough to pay for materials and wear and tear on the saw. I charge at least enough to make minimum wage and when I take off the materials I still make a little. The amount that you put out in a day you could make a lot.
  18. Great fretwork and a great story. Cherish it for life.
