They must use a different oil on the Olson's blades I never have to clean them and I have blades that I have had for a couple of years and they have not rusted at all. go figure.

I prefer Olson's blades . with Flying Dutchman's you have to clesn the blade to git it to stay in the saw with Olson just put it in and there is no problems. Thats what works for me;. The flying Dutchman blades are good I just like Olson's

I use HD some but I like lows better.They g;ive me the vet's discount every time at HD it depends on their mood they have all kinds of excuses. Once I wasn't a purple heart vet. another time they didn't do it at this register,

A couple of weeks ago I broke a blade. When installing it I got distracted and didn't tighten the blade tight;t enough I cut in about ! in and the blade broke. Other than that I don't break blades very often .

What brand of blades are you using. II If it is a Big Box store blade that may be your problem I use Olson's and some use Flying Dutchman's both are good blades. What you buy at Lowe or Home Depot are not worth carrying home..

I can see no difference by using tape. If you feel your blade once in a while ( turn the saw off) and it is hot then.#1 the blade is dull. 2 you are running too fast, I have been cutting out letters for a name trtain out of 3/4 ( actual .800 ) thick popular I have cut the engine, combos, and 22 letters on the same blade. I am unseeing a #9 crown tooth blade. I have a DW 788 and the speed is at the #5 on the dial, when the blade get dull I just take it out and use the other end because it cuts on both the down and Up stroke. Oh yes the blade is an Olson blade.

Welcome to the village.i too have been scrolling for 25+ years . never made a clock like that just don't have the room my shop is only 129 sq ft which limits my work. thanks for showing your beautiful work's.

First project that's very good . My first profect was used to start a fire in the fireplace.

I take a awl and make the bottom of the hole a little wider and have no problem feeding. It takes me about 30 seconds or less to feed the blade thru.As I said before I made a click and lock myself no problem.

I bottom feed with no problems. as far as keeping the arm up there is a Click and lock that does the job . I took one look at it and decided I could make one. I went and bought a nylon bolt and 2 metric bolts and nuts to replace the ones on the scroll saw at the cost of a little over $4 it took me about 20 minuets to make it It has lasted a little over 3 months with no sign of wear,

I won't guarantee that it won't hert the motor. I have worked in the small motor( 1/3 to 100 Hp.) and we recommend that you don't use a veritable speed control on any of them.
