  11. OK! REDGAM ,The parties getting rough already .Nobody told me what ZEN ment !Novice ,Well that's better than some things I have been called ! Stupid ME !,All this time I thought my (Tricked out Dewalt 788 style 1) was still top of the line ! since I removed the peddles LOL! and added the motor. Off an ringer washer I think ,I'm so old I can't remember too good anymore !LOL Seriously ,I have not found anything I can not do with the 788 ,love the large tilt table ,you can see different tweeks ,I have done to it to make it DUST FREE in my gallery, there is even a poor quality video on U-TUBE cutting sheet rock .with the vac system ,The next day I swapped the vac to a 2 Hp Reversed blower ,works similar to my delta central system in the shop. Iv'e tested it for some time now and is much quieter and still handle the saw and my shaping cabinet in my computer room in the house w/ the vac and blower out side on the porch ! Having a wife and COPD It had to be DUST FREE! I have not found the saw lacking in any area ,But I do not cut 2x4s every day or do commercial toy runs,or cut really thick hard wood everyday . Although I have really used for many things It was not intended for numerous times ,I just take my time ! I am just pulling your leg about the novice thing .Enjoyed your post,So I think I will go and attempt to cut some thing if I can find the start button ! LOL !Later Buddy !P.S. Tell Lucy HI for me !

I 30 of them I replace the glass with pc,won't shatter when dropped and very thin and savers space Holds up well ! I thought I'd pass it along fo the glass users!Carl

  15. Sorry to hear all of that ,really at a loss for anything else to say !God bless !
  16. Very sharp !and handy size TOO !
  17. All depends on the interest level of the project ,and how well it's going ,along with the interuptsions encountered ,normally I try to at least get the cutting all done ,shaping and finishing may wait ,If something else catches my fancy !
  18. Well Ray what's your strategy ?
  19. Looks amazing for that age !You sure she's your Mom ? lol
  20. I have only used scraps from new flooring jobs ,planed down the bottom ridges works well on intarsia and small item for miniture 3-d stuff like doll house furniture chair and tables ,or ear rings etc. or glued up for larger projects ,can be a lot of extra work swapping grain curves and replanning and sanding prior to cutting completely do able just how much time your willing ,I used a lot for my six foot model bridge (Northern covered bridge) I used 800 +feet of narrow strips for frame workI have used the man made 3/8" mostly for high wear tops like my xy bandsaw .For scroll sawing compares to iron wood with sparks wax lube to get much life and smooth cutting ,I used formica venear ,with GOD only knows composition of the rest of it ,IMHO has very limited use ! That's all form my personal experience Hope it helps!
  21. Being in a empty nest ,I know what that Kind of surprise means to my wife !BRAVO!
  22. You SIR! are a high tech scroller ! NICE!
  23. Sounds like some thing in the drive is slipping ,torque loss ? Guessing ! Carl
  24. Mark. spirals need as much tension as they can stand ,saw's differ in tension control ,my 788 dewalt is used to a steady diet of them. Being round the have no backbone to reenforce the teeth ,slower steady smooth speed and approach allowing time for the saw dust to evacuate the kerf mandatory for life and smooth cutting the finer the blade the more critical those become . My vac system also helps pull that out instantly, may account for my having less problems with them allowing the blade to keep cutting the ultra fine dust fills the tiny gullets and turns it into a rough wire for all intense and purposes if not allowed to evacuate the kerf Dust! The larger the blade helps with all issues except finnish left by the blade . Then you have sanding issues on boxes ,lanterns etc! Welcome to the site ,Explore it you will find many things of interest ! Pictures of work is the greatest interest of all here! Welcome again Carl
  25. Finer spirals ,good tension ,smaller stacks ,spirals bow easy and require much better control to achieves smoother cuts ,I personally think they are easier at least for me to control than constant spinning of work piece with a flat blade .Every thing has it's use's and ONE'S control of that gives them greater latatude to get the most out of any tool ! Practice fills you SKILL BAG!JMHO
