  1. this youtube link should help anyone that is having any questions about re-sawing wood. It is really informative and I used it on my HF 14 in band saw and it worked perfectly for me
  2. I have never used the ultra reverse blade before so not sure if this is the problem or not. There are different grades of BB Ply also. I have purchased some where the outer layers are very thin and they tore out quite badly. I can not examine the wood you are using, so I also can not be sure if that is where your problem lies. Have you used this blade to cut only one layer and if so, have you experienced the same problem? Do you have any other blades that you can use to see if that helps or is this the only blade that you have on hand? Maybe if you cut less layers at a time, this may help. Experiment on some scrap wood if you have any and see if a different blade helps or less layers. Sorry I can not think of anything else to tell you on this problem without being with you Dick heppnerguy

  5. M I don't see how it can be done, but I may try to cut out the jar and figure something out from there or print a paper label for the piece and clue it in place and then put a layer of finish over it. Dick heppnerguy
  6. awe, what a nice thing to say... Dick heppnerguy
  7. I know. We want everything to come perfect and sometimes we screw part of our project up. Most of the time we worry about it more then others. Thank you for your comments and encouragements, I needed them to get over my immense disapointment. Dick heppnerguy
  8. It should have.... it couldn't be much more simple than this one.. but it helped to finally do something that worked. I certainly have you to be thankful for, in my life, right now Dick heppnerguy
  9. thank you for the encouragement. I needed that Dick heppnerguy
  10. We think the same way, I guess. Dick heppnerguy
  11. I really needed to get back up and brush myself off, Dave. You were right about that. I was feeling really discouraged and beginning to think I may consider to stop scrolling. Well, I just needed to stay within my limits and maybe not try to do things that were too challenging. I just love fret work but I needed to jump back a few notches and do something simple, once more. It did help.... and so did the encouragements I received from my wonderful friends here in the village.. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Don't think I could afford a lazer engraver. I think they are a little to spendy for me to justify
  13. Nice tip. I will keep that in mind. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Dave, I have yet to see you screw up anything. Your work is so dang nice. I am so proud of how much you have accomplished. You are so careful with what you do and never seem to make a mistake. I always look at your work in awe Dick heppnerguy
  15. Thanks Bernd for all you do. Your design patterns are unbelievable and then you so skillfully cut them out flawlessly. I do not know how you can do it so splendidly but I love the videos as they will be of a lot of help to me in the future, you can count on that. This project turned out so well. I am awestruck by how you are able to make such perfect cuts and follow with outstanding finishing. So happy to be able to see you in action. I am proud to be given a chance to have cut some of your patterns. It is truly an honor to have you here in The Village. Dick heppnerguy
  16. After my big disappointment from the teddy bear I saw an easy piece on Steve Good's page that I needed to cut, just to bring back some confidence I lost from my last piece. So I did this one and felt a little better. Not much of a challenge here and do not even know what I am going to do with this one. But it did the job of making me believe a little in myself once more. So not all was lost in the long run. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I started out to make this little intartia bear because I thought it had so much meaning and was so nicely designed by JGR. I just had to give it a try. Overall, I thought it was going pretty well until It was time to do the lettering on the medicine bottle. I had given it some thought and figured it was too delicate of letter cutting and so I decided I would just write in on with a small sharpie. I had one chance to get it right, as it was already glued in place. Well quickly I found out it was a big mistake and it ended up taking so much away from the piece. As you can see, the ink in the sharpie absorbed into the grain of the wood and resulted in a really bad case of the ink running into the pours of the wood. That was the start of my frustrations and disappointments for the past couple of weeks. I will post the new piece of bad failures for me in a couple of days, when I go ahead and post my most frustrating piece, ( for me ), I have ever made. Dick heppnerguy
  18. How gracious of you to make an urn on this sad time. I think you did a real nice job on this project with a wood choice that looks so nice and yet without too much bling. It would be one that I would want selected for me if I had that choice. You have made a very treasured keep sake for a very treasured friend and his family. It is simply beautiful. I am very sorry for his families loss as well as yours and your wife's. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Welcome Bayu from Southern Arizona. In the U.S.A. all scroll saw run on 110 volts, so it seems a little strange to see on that runs on 220 volts. I know that most of the world has 220 volts for their machines too. I remember when we went to Europe we had to take along a converter so we could run our electronics. I understand this is a little strange to bring this up here, it just stood out to me when I looked about your saw photo and saw it on the box. Anyway, glad you found us and decided we might be a great place to join up with as you start your venture into scrolling. One of the most important things you can learn is all about the correct saw blades to use. Be sure and ask any questions you may have because everyone here is more than delighted to help each other, whenever we can. Explore all around this site and you will discover a lot of useful and interesting things that make up this scroll saw page. Oh, and log on often so we can all get to know you better and you us. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Welcome Graham from Southern Arizona. There are a lot of places to explore and you will find a lot of good free information and free patterns for you to download and cut. When you finish a scroll pattern be sure and post it in the bragging forum for us all to view. Not that everything put in there is something one may think is worthy of bragging about, or maybe it is, it is just where you post your work for others to see. Don't be afraid to post it because you may think it is not that good, but keep in mind we all started from the beginning. Some are better then others. No one is here to put anyone else down, only to encourage each other. Any questions about scroll supplies or how to put a pattern on wood or what wood is best for what projects of how to keep a blade secure in the saw......all are good questions and some may have different takes on answering your question. It is like if you asked several people on the street, what is the best car to own, you might get a lot of different answers then you have to try several to find the one you like best. Hey, glad to have you on board and hope you log on often. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Nice.. This will be something that is so unusual it might not get tossed out for some time Dick heppnerguy
  22. A great piece and just for yourself and the family. A personal pet portrait is always a fun one. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Nicely done fret work. On top of that, it came off a new saw that you had to get to know. I think your connection with your new saw is taken care of and your new saw has become one of your new best friends. Dick heppnerguy
  24. You sure made good use of that piece of wood. Those bowls look really good. You have a good eye for what to use your wood for. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Picture frames make great gifts that have a good usage as well. Nice patterns. They will be around a long time, not only holding memories but being memories in their own rights Dick heppnerguy
