  1. Wow that is very scary. So sorry to hear that you went through so much so quickly. Your bad experience helps others, like me. to be especially careful when using this kind of glue. It seems so harmless in the bottle. Thank you for the reply. so glad you are healing, finally Dick heppnerguy

    Veining Tips

Travis, I appreciate the time you take to share your expertise with others. I know I have benefitted a lot from your time to share your wisdom. You have developed a lot of relationships with other members as they react with one another in The Village. I know I have met several members and have became friends with some of them. I also feel like I know a lot of people all over the planet because of this web site. THANKS ONCE MORE FOR ALL YOU DO FOR SO MANY OTHERS Dick heppnerguy
  3. were you able to upsize the pattern I made for you?
  4. This happened while I was away for 2 and 1/2 months with no internet. I was totally unaware of your injury until now. I would have never thought that C.A. glue was in any way dangerous. I do use a little super glue but had no idea there could even be a problem like this from any kind of glue. Did you just spill it on your foot? How long until it was causing you a concern? Were you aware of a burning sensation immediately or was it left for awhile before you noticed? One thought that crossed my mind as I was writing you these questions is...… Did the glue make your sock stick to your foot and tore the skin as you attempted to remove your sock. So sorry for the long and obvious pain it has left you. Glad you are starting to get some relief, finally. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Very nicely done. Your cuts are spot on and the wood choices really set it off. A big pat on the back for this project Dick heppnerguy
  6. Also on some blade clamps, (if you look at them closely) you will see that the outer part (the parts facing away from the saw) are tapered outward. I the blade is extending past the locking mechanisms they will be forced to bend. One cure is to leave the blade in the bottom clamp and clip off the part that is bent and them re-clamp the blade and see if that fixes the problem. It has for me, every time, unless there is a problem with the 'grub' screw is not leaving a hole space inside the clamp. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Because scroll saw blades work so differently from the regular flat blades, many scroller simply do not like them. The first time one tries them, they do not like them because they seem to not make a smooth straight line and a lot more saw dust. One mistake I think people do is to use too large of a blade. Also they seem to work a lot easier at a higher speed and I believe because on the first time use of a spiral one thinks it is best to go slow and get the feel of one. I would suggest that one should start by drawing some lines on a !/4 inch thick piece of wood and practice making turns as well as straight lines and maybe even cutting out circles and squares and some odd shapes. This would give you the feel of a spiral blade without messing up an intended project and you can start to see if you can manage a spiral. Many spiral cutters that like to cut a lot of fret use only spirals for that. I have found that the spiral blade is more forgiving on delicate cuts and there is less breakage. Go easy and let the blade do the cutting. I would suggest nothing bigger than a number 1 blade for this effort Dick heppnerguy
  8. another something new from across the big pond. You are one ambitious person that is not afraid to try something new and original. Love your patterns Dick heppnerguy
  9. I think you have the inlay thing down pretty well. I have done a couple of inlays but that was awhile back. Need to try it again soon. You inspire me. I really like your box, both the inlay and the wood you used. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Oh, I just went back and had a second look and what I thought was a background is really napkins, I thing now.. Well done Dick heppnerguy
  11. nice pieces, Kevin. I like the background on the turkeys a lot. It really sets them off. All are pretty cool pieces Dick heppnerguy
  12. I like them too and they are really an easy piece to cut, unlike ones with a lot of fret work. hey, it is just about spring in Australia now, isn't it? Dick heppnerguy
  13. I have been home alone since Sunday of last week and I have only gone out of the house or shop one time to go wash the car. I am a good boy. Too old to do any harm anyway Dick heppnerguy
  14. wow Marg, that is terrific. I am really impressed. You did a really great job on this. My humble hat is off to you Dick heppnerguy
  15. I have been eyeing this one for a long time and since I am home alone for 9 days, I have all the shop time I desire. So after the few things I posted yesterday and today, I decided to go back out to the shop one more time and cut this one from Steve Good. It was a fun and easy one to cut. In fact it took me less then an hour to cut this one from start to taking the pattern off the board. So if you would like to cut a wood portrait and have never done so, here is a great one to start off with. If you just like it but have never got around to cutting it, It only takes an hour of your time. You could cut this one while you are waiting for your finish on your other project to dry. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I saw Sam Custodio post this new illusion pattern and I have been looking at a couple of them to cut. When I saw this one, yesterday, I downloaded it and cut it today. I like to cut Sam's patterns as they are always done so well and a pleasure to cut. I have not done any for awhile so I jumped right on it. Thanks Sam for the great, free patterns. Dick hepperguy
  17. how I do what, Kevin?
  18. I decided to do something that was a little more on the simpler side. So I made this pattern of their logo and cut it just to ease the pressure of the new type of scrolling I have been doing. I also have a couple of new cartoon patterns that I made to work on the new process and try to figure out the best way to do them. I will just hang this one on my shop wall because I did end up kind of liking it's outcome. Dick heppnerguy
  19. That is quite a project You are one talented person. I can't wait to see what you are doing with your scroll saw in the future too. Dick heppnerguy
  20. So glad to see that you are interested in sharing yourself and your work with us. That is what makes The Village a family. Maybe you know other Koreans that like to work on the scroll saw. You might encourage them to come join us too Dick heppnerguy
  21. I love it when one starts pushing the envelope. that is where we learn that our limits are usually bottled up inside ourselves. Lots of fret work means lots of satisfactions Dick heppnerguy
  22. I saw your post so I thought I would try to make a pattern you could cut without losing the middle of the letters. I am not much of a pattern maker but I thought it would be worth a try for you. I hope this helps Dick heppnerguy
  23. nice project. that should be inspiring to you when you saw the finished item. Some times I just want to hurry and see the end results. I know where you are coming from. but think back when you started it all and see what a normal piece of wood turned out to be because YOU took the time to make it Dick heppnerguy
  24. pattern making is an art in itself. You have done a great job with this one and if I understood you correctly, it is part of a contest? If so, what were the results of the contest? Did you win it? Thank you for sharing the photo, pattern and finished piece. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Cute items and a great idea. One year I cut key chains of peoples names on them to identify whom the gift was intended. They all still have them and use them daily. I love it when I see them. These are really special as anyone can use them and then they can become Christmas tree decorations. Dick heppnerguy
