  1. just click on the link below and you will be amazed at what this guy can do. Had to share this one with all of you https://www.facebook.com/Engineering-Architecture-669073119769823/ Dick heppnerguy
  2. I too am sorry to hear of your brother losing his wife. Has to be very difficult for everyone in the family. I saw this lamb pattern featured in my last scroll saw magazine. I am not into lambs much but it came out very cute Dick heppnerguy
  3. Dave, way to jump in with both feet. Your pattern is very nice. I particularly like the extra effort you put into finishing your project. It makes them extra special. I don' t do well in that area. Dick heppnerguy
  4. very cute piece. Thanks for showing..It also shows that you love your wife and give her gifts from the heart Dick heppnerguy
  5. Congrats on the AC. I keep my scroll saw in my wood stove heated 16 X 16 insulated shop. so nice and warm during the winter, even if it is 20 degrees or colder outside, but no AC. I will be looking for a used AC unit for this summer as the heat drove me into the house last summer. I have a second shop with my other saws, sanders and planer are that is 1/2 a walled doubled garage. I have to share that second shop area with my wife as she keeps the freezer in it to. Don't you all feel sorry for me ? I knew you people were all heart and such caring people. Maybe some prayers are in order that my wife decides to move the freezer to her side of the garage..Let's hope Dick heppnerguy
  6. Paul, You just need to practice with the flat blades until you get comfortable with them, like I am attempting to do with my spiral blades. I have a project that is going to force me to use spirals and I am not very comfortable about it as it is a commissioned piece and I just know I will screw it up.. Dick heppnerguy
  7. I usually super glue a saw tooth hanger on mine and I have not had any problems with them, so far Dick heppnerguy
  8. Frank, You certainly deserve all the nice compliments you received on both of your projects. I admire your attitude and dedication you have shown through out the entirety of both items. It has been fun watching you experiment with them and the guts to go one more step and try the staining of them. I too colored some of my things and I pretty much liked what I did on mine but I guess I was the only one that did. But the other day a gal saw one of my colorized pieces on my shop wall and said it was one of the most gorgeous things she had ever seen, so of course, I took it off the wall and gave it to her. So glad it found a wanted home. Anyway, I am, like many of our members here, waiting to see what you do next Dick heppnerguy
  9. Here is the link to see everything you ever wanted to know about greasing and replacing bearings in a DeWalt scroll saw. this is part 1 of 4 parts and when you get through viewing this, you will know more about your saw than you might have ever expected you would Dick heppnerguy
  10. I cut another of the Sue Mey patterns from her E Book, this afternoon. I have not made a backer board for it or done any finish work on it but I thought I would post it because I just liked the pattern. It is obviously an easy one to cut. Dick heppnerguy
  11. Remember last week I posted a photo of some really nice free wood I got from my grandson who has the cabinet shop? Well, I was talking with him on the phone today and he informed me that they have been saving larger pieces of Alder for me and also some 1/4 Alder ply. He said, 'bring down your trailer because I have more than enough to fill it up; for you" Wow, how lucky am I.? I think I may to in contact with Scrappile really soon and I think I will share some of my wealth with him, if he is interested. I will taek of photo of my haul when i get it home Dick heppnerguy
  12. Helmut, Are talking about the faces that are hidden in the tree branches. IF so I can find the picture, but I have no idea how to th person who drew it. Dick heppnerguy
  13. This deserved a stand up applause. You are putting out some wonderful work. enjoy seeing your posts.. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Paul, You do such fabulous work that even the most difficult looks easy for you. If it were not a complex pattern, I doubt you would even give it a thought. Dick heppnerguy
  15. Doug, Welcome to The Village... but I want to issue you a warning. If you should decide to log on often and get to know everyone here, there is no way back to the world you are used to living in as once you are a part of "US", there is NO WAY BACK. You have been warned.. I hope you are a regular here before you know it. Dick heppnerguy
  16. a big welcome from me too, Declan. This is a place where you will soon feel like you are a part of a huge family because if you come back often so we can get to know each other, you will find that you are in a family of very friendly and happy and generous people. If you have any questions, just ask. If you want to learn how to make patterns for yourself, go to the 'University' tab farther down in the forum. If you do not think pattern making is for you, go to the free pattern section, (all are free) and download some and cut them for yourself. Glad you are with us. hope I can say the same thing come summer Dick heppnerguy
  17. I started scrolling about 6 years ago and I am almost 76 years old, so you are right, one can start a new hobby and find much enjoyment from it as long as he is able to sit and his parts move well. You go for it. Tell us a little about your saw, what kind of things you are most interested in cutting and show us what you may have done already Dick heppnerguy
  18. Sparkey, I saw an article on tightening the bolt to hold up your saw arm. I also did it until I read the article. It said NOT to do this as it cause undue stress on the bearing it supports and will cause early wear, I immediately put mine back to it normal torque. Did not seem worth the price I might have to pay. I just use a 2 X 4 and it is no extra effort after a short while as it becomes habit. I also tried the wooden knob that Steve Good designed to help one give easier tightening and extra tightening on the blade thumb screw and in a very short time, i stripped it out, had a weeks downtime and unneeded expense from it. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Ok guys... I got the killer deal on my RBI. I told you above that I got mine at an estate sale and it was obvious that the person doing the sale knew nothing about scroll saws, because I got mine for only ...........................are you ready for this??????? $65.00. that is correct only $65. I could not get it off the work bench and to the seller desk fast enough. there was no way I wanted that to get away from me. Unless you have a family member that died and had one and their spouse knew you scrolled and wished for you to get the saw and just gave it to you, I don't believe any one will ever get the deal I did on mine. Right place,,,,right time Dick heppnerguy
  20. There you go. Question pretty much answered. Flat end blades, whenever you can because of variety of blades available and because you can use a smaller pilot hole with them. Cutting small fret work is not always possible it you are using pinned blades. Spiral blades cut too wide a path to be good for puzzles. The puzzle blades and # 1 or #2 blades with numerous teeth work best for puzzles for me. i kind of prefer the double tooth blades because they are l little less aggressive. Dick heppnerguy
  21. I have sold a few of the intersecting wood signs too. I think I was charging $30 for the ones I sold but it could have been $35. I would say $35 is a fair price for these. They are really attractive and a little different, unless you are a scroller, then you see so many that it almost seems like there is no longer any other kind of sign designed now days. I too use 1/2 inch to cut my signs on. It seems to be the beest thickness for this sign, in my opinion. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Don, It is these relaxing things that keep it all fun between the more complicated items. These are going to be played with long and hard and I bet the family will have these long after we both are gone from this planet Dick heppnerguy
  23. I hope you keep posting your works forests see. You are doing really well. Makes me wonder what you will come up with next Dick heppnerguy
  24. One thing that I enjoy about scrolling is being able to do some simple yet well designed patterns like this one. I love the almost instant gratification from those patterns. They also are the easy sales pieces because you do not have to charge much for them. This type pattern often sells almost as fast as I post them. It is these easy but nice patterns that keep my surplus money always in my drawer for supplies Dick heppnerguy
  25. Wow. And besides that, I would like to make a sincere and full comment on your p at tern. And completed work WOW Dick heppnerguy
