  9. Ralph, Check out this video.. this same guy has an even better repair video in you tube. should be easy enough to find too.. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Paul, i sure hope that your problem is a simple fix like Ron suggested as I really want to sit at your saw and get a feel of it and see if my next saw will be an EX. Dick heppnerguy
  11. After reading the remarks here on this thread, I was in Wal Mart this evening and I ran across a laser printer/copier/scanner for under $100 to I went ahead and picked it up. MY ink Jet printer ink costs me $94 for a combination pack so i said what the heck and went for it. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I thought the same thing about the ease of it. I found the eye area to be a little delicate but got through it all without any problems or breakage Dick heppnerguy
  13. I used 1/4 inch but no spiral.. I am just still a little shy with it and the area around and in the eyes are more delicate than I feel I can do yet. It is an 8 X10 sheet. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Jewelry made from different colored wood is something that I like the looks of and you did a great job on these. I have done some rings but never tried a bracelet before. Inspiring is one work I would use, describing your work Dick heppnerguy
  15. Ron, There you go again. You take a simple toy car pattern and make it a thing of beauty. You have never once NOT amazed me with something you made. I would not have ever expected something of such simplicity to come out looking like art. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Well, I guess you got your answer on adding a date to it. 100 percent "no's". Your design is really nice and you did a fabulous job cutting it. I would be for a backer board. One thing that i like to do is lay my cut piece on another board and then lay a small washer next to the outside edge and place a pencil inside the washer. While holding the plaque firmly to the board, trace around the outside of your plaque and this will leave you with a perfectly spaced, overlapping line. Cut on the line and paint or stain the desired color on the new board and then glue the plaque onto the backer board. This way you do not need to have a frame, as this will create a sort of framing for you. Also you will not have to worry that the backer board in not in perfect alignment with your piece. so it is easier to work with too. By having the backer board attached you also have something to for your wall hanger to attach. Be careful that the screws or nails you use to attach your hanger will not go through your backer board. If they will go through, then use super glue or hot glue to put the hanger on the back board. Just one more idea Dick heppnerguy
  17. I made this plaque that turned out to be a new experience for me. I cut it with a spiral blade because of the thin font. I struggled a lot with the blade on this one and I had to join two pages because it was too big to print out on one. I intersected the pages and though I spray glued the back of the pattern I overlooked gluing the two halves together where they overlapped and as I was finishing up, the pages separated and the overlapping page started fluttering as I was cutting out the 'a' in Psalm and it caused it to break out. But I thought I was OK with that small error. maybe I should not have been Dick heppnerguy
  18. the photos are of very poor quality but it is what it is. the first group was a small donation of pieces I had in my shop that a relative was wanting for her church raffle The second is one i did this afternoon of Jesus. this is a pattern by a guy named Sam that no longer makes patterns but I love his pattern style and today was his birthday so I decided to cut it Nothing particularly special but I have not posted for a while and thought I would do it now. Dick heppnerguy
  19. Funny we use a baby monitor to communicate from the house to the shop. Not sure if the 'baby' part has any intended significant s to my man hood or not Dick heppnerguy

  21. That's it ????? You are quitting already ? My you just don't have the stamina you used to have when you were younger.... A good productive day in the shop, for sure. Your wife probably did not see you much this day Dick heppnerguy
  22. Randy, I appreciate the detailed work you do but more than that I appreciate the person you obvious are. You show concern for others as well as being helpful and sharing of your talents to anyone interested in giving this medium a try. I am glad you are part of our family Dick heppnerguy
  23. I was amazed at all the great Ideas that were given to you as you were readying for your talk. I am so glad that you found it interesting to do and that you did so well that they want you back again. The new saw is wonderful and I know you will enjoy it a lot. CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done Dick heppnerguy
  24. Here are a couple of cars that I have cut using my suggestions above. Hope this helps you Dick heppnerguy
  25. I understand your problem as I too have experienced cutting lines that are almost too small to see. The spiral blade, as suggested above is a good alternative but I also understand your frustrations there as they are a different breed of blade and hard to for many to use. However, one suggestion above was to cut the piece and then go over it again with a spiral and then they are fairly easy to maneuver but you still need to cut very carefully. What kind and thickness of wood are you using to do this? That also determines what blades you can use safely on this.If I were cutting this piece and using, say 1/4 inch BB birch I would use a minimum of a #3 double tooth blade. The blade will help with cutting a wider line and it will guide and stay on the line easier too. If you are using 1/4 inch BB Birch I would cut a scrap board of the same thickness, under your piece and stack cut it. You will find it will be a lot easier to cut. But first I would use a minimum #3 blade and make sure you have at least 1/4 inch of total board thickness to cut. You may PM me if you need anything further from me and i will be happy to help you more, if needed Dick heppnerguy
