  1. And a good job you did with it too. Those are cute little fork lifts. The design is amazing interesting and it makes it a fun piece. I love the way you painted it too Dick heppnerguy
  2. similar thing happened to me, except instead of dropping my piece, I glued it up wrong and all was lost.. i cut an Eiffel Tower and changed the pattern just a little to hide the end grains and did not think it our well enough. It was not until the very last part was glued, that i realized none of it was square. No salvaging could be made. It did burn well though... I have probably 16 hours of cutting in that one, so I know how you feel. I had to start all over again.. It turned out to be a good learning experience Dick heppnerguy
  3. Why can't one put the wheels on the part of the stand with 2 wheels ? Not sure about the stand but it seems to me it would work if the wheels were in the front of the stand or the back of the stand. Just wondering Dick heppnerguy
  4. Frank, We are in this one together. If you saw one of my earlier posts, you probably know that I am going to concentrate on spiral blades this year, also. I am not planning of converting to all spiral blades but I do want o be able to cut satisfactorily well with them, should I find a pattern, like the one you are working on, that cries for spiral blades. I will continue to fallow your cutting to see what happens to you and your choices of patterns and blades in the future. So far, this one is really coming along well.. keep up the great effort Dick heppnerguy
  5. Congratulations. May it bring you many happy results in 2016. I hope you post a comparison you observe between your two saws and I would be especially interested if the design changes that you will need to adapt to, were easy or a little difficult to make and how you might compare the features that would make the 'perfect' saw for you, or does one have everything exactly as you like it. Interested to hear something like that from you Dick heppnerguy
  6. Jerry, This just keeps you on your toes, Cut a pattern with an 'O' in it and not bridges, you get a circle instead. A few circles and pretty soon one catches on.. hard to fool us old guys more than a hundred times or so Way to stay alert. Dick heppnerguy
  7. nice thing about putting it together is that is only takes putting in 2 screws to bolt on the table and you are off and running...hint...if you have not yet done so, it is easiest if you tilt the table to the extremes and then put then install the screws..have fun with your saw.. you will learn to love it soon Dick heppnerguy
  8. I posted the Ingrid mirror I made for my wife, along with the statement that my work was not nearly as nice as the one I showed my wife and I got a lot of nice comments from everyone. I went back and looked at the post and understood why. You see, I inadvertently posted the photo of the great work of the person I was comparing my work with, instead of the piece that I actually did. I am so sorry for this mistake as if anyone else had seen this other person's work, will realize my mistake and think I am trying to take credit for others skills, which I am not. My apologizes to artists work I posted by mistake and to all The Village family whom I deceived by this mistake. So with that said I will instead post my own work here, as I had intended to do and hope you all understand and forgive my error. Dick heppnerguy
  9. well gang, we will see what the spiral blade does for me, or to me. I have found times when I wish I had that ability and spirals would make the job a little or maybe a lot easier.. We shall see.... Roly, maybe you are right.... Dick heppnerguy
  10. Great idea, I never thought about the board grain coming into play. You are way ahead of me and my views.. Dick heppnergy
  11. Make the wife happy and you will receive more time in the shop, doing what you love to do...these pretty woman are all going to be pleased with this wooden portrait. I hope you stack cut three of them Dick heppnerguy
  12. I am not into wooden toys but everything you do is top notch, as Kevin would say, and so are these wonderful wooden toys you made. I believe you could make a roasting stick for the fire pit and it would amaze me when I saw it.. Dick heppnerguy
  13. I have decided to learn to use a spiral blade this coming year. It is not that I am going to adopt it as my new blade of preference although, who knows. it is just that I think it has it's place and if I can get to a point of being able to use it well, then how can I go wrong ? That would make one more blade that can help me in becoming a better scroller, perhaps. So today I grabbed this pattern and cut it. or at least, attempted to cut it. It is like starting all over again. I am back in scrolling kindergarten, but it was not all that long ago I started cutting my first pattern and now hundreds later, I am starting again. You can all see that it is easy to realize, I have a long way to go, but I learned something from this second attempt at using the spiral and I hope and believe that I will be learning as I go along, because if I ever reach a point that I think I now know all there is to know about scrolling, it would be because I have fallen and landed on my head. I will keep trying and hopefully, I will steadily get a little better as I do. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Safe travels and I will include your mother and all her family in my prayers. Happy new Year to you and yours Dick heppnerguy
  15. Dave, Personally, I prefer Inkscape for most pattern making but if it is portraits, then I believe GIMP is the preferred program. They are both free and both have excellent tutorials, both here in The Village by Travis and a lot on You tube. download them both and work a little with each and find which one you like best. I will be happy to step you through some if you would like me to. Dick heppnerguy
  16. no finish on the back of any for me either Dick heppnerguy
  17. I saw one of these posted on another sight and showed it to my wife and she loved the piece so I purchased the pattern from a guy in Australia. The one I saw on the other sight far surpasses my skills but I thought I would give it a try. So here are the results. Luckily, my wife really liked it, so I am out of the woods on this one. Dick heppnerguy
  18. very nice job. It is one that would keep you taking looks at it over and over if it was on a wall in a room you were in. There is nothing to criticize here and that is not my intent with this next sentence, I am only offering my observation here. The only thing that I would do different if I were to cut this pattern on this wood, would be to turn the wood 90 degrees and then the grain would look like a partly cloudy sky behind the bridge. I hope you take this for what i am trying to point out and not as me being critical, as I have no doubt in my mind that you skills surpass mine, my intention is only to share an idea, nothing more. this is absolutely magnificent in every way. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I still have to find time to give this a go.. i love your abilities and willingness to share with others how to achieve this skill for themselves. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Great piece. It came out really nice.. I like it a lot .. Dick heppnerguy
  21. that a boy. now you are one the path to a new endeavor. We should be seeing a lot of new creativity coming from you this year. I hope to be right behind you. I am hoping on starting my efforts at inlays again, in a couple of weeks or so, Thanks for your info. Dick heppneguy
  22. banging them out on a regular basis. Does not leave time for much else. Oh well, when one has a chance to make a little money, you don't want to pass that up. Way to go Kevin Dick heppnerguy
  23. I have never used poster board for cutting anything but they should be nice and light weight so perfect choice for the snowmen you made here. The color makes them stand out nicely. Dick heppnerguy
  24. you can get a free word program that should pick them up for you when you install them it is called open office. Dick heppnerguy
  25. These blow me away..How could i have never heard of wooden bottle openers before ? A new one on me, Ralph..Cool idea Dick heppnerguy
