  1. Should someone have to go to that trouble to use patterns in a book?? I would not.
  2. Nice cutting and great pieces... Love the little kids silhouettes.
  3. But, a very good looking clock.... Job well done.
  4. One of my favorite pieces of "Bird Art"
  5. Very nice sign.... These the ones that live in Heppner?
  6. What clamp are you using at the top.... If it is the standard clamp, the clamp is not suppose to be set tight in the holder... The knob should be backed off a little so the clamp "floats" in the clamp holder.... If you have the "Quik Clamp" it should be held tight in the clamp holder... Also the tension on a Hegner is important,,,, maybe a little more tension may help.... I had this same problem when I got my Hegner.... I called Advance Machinery several times for advice.... they gave suggestions, and all of a sudden things started working much better... I still probably break more blades on the Hegner than my other saw... It seems to me when a blade is getting dull and needs changing it will break, as opposed to the other saw, it just keeps trying to cut.. but does not break. Maybe it is because of the addition of a little more tension on the Hegner.. Had the Hegner several years now and I still jump when a blade brakes...
  7. Some I have attempted over the past few years: There are more,, but the point is, birds are one of my favorites to cut.
  8. Great picture.... great cutting.
  9. I have this HF set,,, Thought I would not use them much but I have,,,, Thought they would not last but they have... https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/tool-sets/chisel-file-sets/12-piece-precision-needle-file-set-4614.html
  10. Another beauty!! Please keep them coming. . really enjoy your cars and planes.. I have two cars I want to do. Got to learn to do patterns..
  11. Great Job!!! He his absolutely one one of my favorite actors and one of the very few I would go out of my way to try to meet and shake hands with..
  12. Scott I think rockytime is right... I searched "Excalibur Scroll Saw manuals and came up with several places. Here is one,,, You might see if it fits what you have... Click on the the box on the left of the screen.. It is a PDF file. http://www.vintagemachinery.org/pubs/detail.aspx?id=18315
  13. Very nice work Danny!
  14. I am certain you are going to love the Pegas saw.... Great choice...
  15. Very cool, almost as tough as building a boat in a bottle...
  16. Mine is a Jet JDP-17DX Wood Woodworker's model. The wood worker part is it has a bigger table.. I looked at the chuck. The only marking on it are 1-16mm JT3. May mean it 1mm and opens to 16mm. I think the JT3 may have to do it has 3 jaws some chucks have 4 jaws.. If 1mm is as far as it suppose to close,,,, something has to wrong with mine,,, I drill with a #70 bit often.... I believe that is somewhat smaller than like around .65mm
  17. I mostly used a #1 Flying Dutchman Penquin Silver (FD-PS). Normally I would is the Penquin Silver Reverse (FD-PSR) but I was out of them.
  18. Glad to have you join us.
  19. One thing I found out,,, I use my drill press to drill the holes for the scroll sawing.... Last year the spring broke that raises the quill back up after the hole is drilled.... It so like a mainspring in a clock....type spring.. I thought, gee that didn't last long, and then I got to thinking how many holes I have drilled doing fretwork... Most drill presses don't get that kind of use... So I am going to buy a spare, maybe two to have on hand...
  20. Dave,,, Grizzly has a good reputation... I have one of their Band saws, love it. To me a very important consideration on a drill press for a scroller is will the chuck tighten all the way down...I mean I have a Jet... the chuck will tighten down to hold all the small drill bits... I drill all the time with #70 bits because the chuck closes all the way. Alot of them do not... Please check that or you will be disappointed...
  21. She probably has no clue of a price and would have to get someone else to help her... I think I would offer her straight out what they would be worth to me..... I would give her time, if she wished, to consider my offer, meaning she could ask someone else for advice if she chose to... I would not try to dicker with her or cheat her,, I would just say what I would be willing to pay...
  22. Beautiful job..... always been a dragon fan.... You did this dragon proud....

    Well done.
  24. Another option is to consider a variety pack of blades. Think Pegas has one. A lot of people here like the Modified Geometry blades... They are a little too aggressive for me for the types of scrolling I do most the time. Don't be afraid to try several types,, several sizes... Heck,, I have over 30 different types/sizes... I use most of them. And as I am writing, my opinion,,, I see Larry has a sorta different opinion.... Well I don't mean go crazy buying different types,,, but you need to buy more than one or two so you can compare... Just my thoughts.. I did start with a variety pack, and it took me several years to end up with a many different blades as I have not.
  25. @Rockytime thanks, 11 1/2" x 13 1/2" x 1/4"
