  1. I always wait a day or two to apply finish because I use MS to remove the pattern... Then I sand it a little and hit it with about 3 - coats of Deft Clear Lacquer. Usually satin or simi-gloss.
  2. I have done some pretty intricate patterns over time, but I have to say this one was one that really tested me... I failed in a couple minor areas,,, but I will not point them out.... The hair, oh that hair, was very tense,, around the ear. Didn't help that the last BB I purchased was not very good quality... Almost didn't buy it but I was out, so thought some is better than none.. This is a Charles Dearing pattern. Just off the saw... will have to make a frame and put finish on it... A present for my son..
  3. I believe they are wire gauge bits.... And the higher the number, the smaller the bit.... anything to make life easier for us common folks... right??!!
  4. Yes sir,,,, A+ on both... Can't take a hug though... got to practice social distancing and all.... Save that hug for later...
  5. I have always heard it is very difficult to get a pattern of a group of people.... Looks to me like you have it mastered... That is an awesome job on the pattern and an awesome job on the cutting of the pattern!
  6. Well be proud,,,, You were,,, I was always a want-a-be!!!
  7. Welcome to the forum... hope we can help. Well, you measure end of blade to end of blade... I just measured several of mine,,,, pinless blades and all the "5 inch blades I have purchased all these years are more like 5 1/8" long... I have been getting a real bargain and didn't know it!!
  8. Yes, my Hegner bushing will wear out... some day.... but I will bet you $50, not in my life time. Mine is a 2010, I purchased from Advance Machinery as a demo... We can let @Rockytime hold the stakes... I am 77.. is that a fair bet?? Not really I am not trusting Rockytime with my money.... he is one of those old biker guys....
  9. Very nice, Cut very well and great job framing them.
  10. Great puzzle celebrating a huge event....
  11. Pretty sure Denny sells the Mascott also... I found these to be the best brand I have tried.... Got mine from DnD before Denny started selling. DnD is a great place to order from as well as Denny's.
  12. Great cutting... Is that a high school? My high school was and still is the "Richland Bombers". It is in Richland Washington, what is often called "The Atomic City"
  13. http://www.jeplans.com/Catalog/Catalog2.php?targp=JECAT&JECAT=All scroll down almost to the bottom.
  14. I find 3D cutting fascinating... It is always a surprise to me what comes out when you remove the outer wood... I love the mini bird houses,,, so does my daughter, she steals every one I make and my favorite is the 3D nut crackers I have cut... she stoled that also... but she use to dance in the local Nut Cracker productions when she was a little ballerina many years ago... Like you,,, I have patterns to make a chess set... hope to get to it this year.. Show progress on yours,,, it will keep me interested in completing one.. I will be a thanking you...
  15. Nicely done!
  16. Great job... I have wanted a Porsche since three days before I was born!!!!
  17. Hummm... I always gave my kids a dime to go to bed without supper.... Charged them a quarter for breakfast!! Teach them a lesson....
  18. When I drill very small holes and need them to start in a certain spot, I just use a good size pin or my little ice pick to make a start hole. And if you have to use a second chuck to hold your small bits.... get a good one,, don't go real cheap... I have yet to find one that didn't wobble. One of the things I like most about my Jet drill press,,, the chuck closes all the way... It will hold the tiny bits.
  19. Never heard of that blade... but if they break that easily,,, maybe I would find a different brand... Like you, I can only scroll for relativity short periods anymore... but that is okay,, at least I can still scroll..
  20. You really did a beautiful job on that piece... one of those pictures you can sit back, look at it, and wish you were there... Great job.... I may have to look up that pattern...
  21. I have done some intricate patterns,, but not sure any of that many holes... I do not count... takes away from my scrolling time... Again,,, great job Jeff.
  22. Kevin,,, is this the "New" Excalibur or the older ones? I have not heard of this problem in the older version... but the new ones are not the same as the older one,,, in relationship to where built and by whom.....
  23. don't be to quick to agree with me... I rarely know what the heck I am talking about.. But this time I have been following the discussion on another none scroll saw forum and my neighbor who is building an addition to his house and what he has experienced with lumber costs...
