  1. I'm surprised at the pictures of you saw... It is what I thought a carbatec saw looks like but I went to the carbatec site yesterday and saw a blue saw that looked exactly like a Pegas/Excalibur type saw (in blue). Congrats on your new saw and Let us know how you like it after you get some use on it. You will figure the blades out, takes some time and practice... there is on right or wrong,,, it is personal preference, so do not hesitate to try different types/sizes on your projects...
  2. Well done.
  3. Really a nice picture... Great job.. I'll be glad to get to it.
  4. I would say, be flattered!!
  5. Such a relaxing scene... Beautifully done... I hear music!!
  6. WELL done, Charlie. Love Kokopelli. I made a little cigar box uke some years back... I cut a sound hole cover, with Kokopelli playing a Uke...Now you make me want to cut one ofd him to hang in my shop...
  7. Okay, Ray, you got me.... You get into that much tilt... I can see it would be an advantage to tilt the head, I would think... Can't see where I would ever do that, but you never know.. But on marquetry,,, most don't use a scroll saw,,, they use hand fret saws... and that thin of wood... well I can't argue it,, you have more experience in that area than I... Hope to try someday,, Marquetry, to me is the wood art of all wood arts.. Wish I had started so much younger..
  8. I have a Seyco... I purchase it because they had stopped making the Excalibur and I don't think the Pegas was available in the States yet... I purchased it also because I had an Excalibur from Ray and knew how great the service was and the parts are available. If the Pegas had been out it would have made my decision more difficult. The Pegas is so pretty!!! I am happy with the Seyco... I have only tilted to head once and that was to see how difficult it was... It was really stiff at first, but I worked it back and forth several times and it was fine after that... I haven't done any inlay,,, but really you only move the head 3° - 5° so to me it is no big deal if I have to push the head over or crank it.. Someone that does it often may, of coarse, feel differently. They are both great saws,,,, but, well, I love my Hegner best!!!! I think is I do start inlay, which I hope to, I will probably still use my Hegner... I just cannot see a 5° or so tilt being a problem whether it is the head that tilts or the table.... I could be wrong.. But seriously,,, I can stand being wrong one in my life.... so far I don't know how it feels!!

  13. Very nice for sure!!
  14. Very well done...
  15. That is a very nice cutting..... I've found if you can't understand how a blade could be so dull that it will not cut at all, check to see if it is in backwards.... The guy I talk to all the time told me that,,, he is my friend Self.
  16. Nice job cutting that.
  17. Welcome to the village... so glad we have a new mate....
  18. I'm done,,, no more painting,,,, enough it enough... I will put a spray clear finish on it just for some protection. This would not hold up as an outdoor birdhouse..It is not the correct paint for it,,, maybe would work in a well protected location... But,,,, well ,,, it was fun.
  19. Great work, Dick. Very well cut.
  20. Well, I started on the painting today.... something I am not at all good at, but having fun. I am going to try to make the birds look like goldfinches.... Our state bird and lots of them around in the summer... This is a fun project...
