  1. I think the price increases have affected the construction lumber and plywood the most... Many places have stopped new home builds do to the huge increase in prices of building materials.
  2. Yep, well worth the effort.... Great cutting!
  3. I wax every table top on every tool I have... Table saw, scroll saws, band saw, drill press, planer... all. not only does it make thing slide smoother on them but it help to keep the rust away...
  4. Great job Mr. Heppnerguy. Glad you are keeping busy.. Nice weather is making it difficult for me to stay at the saw.
  5. All very well done... Thanks for letting us look!
  6. Beautiful box!! Your usual beautiful job of cutting, fitting and finishing...
  7. Mighty beautiful work, Dick...
  8. Yes, very well done one pattern and cutting... Thanks for sharing your patterns..
  9. Okay Frank,,, you can think me latter, here is the answer. Thought of it this morning so I drew up some formal plans... Make a couple little "turn-key out of small dowel and 1/8" plywood or hardwood. Drill down through the lid the size of the dowel. Will have to glue the bottom of the key on after the dowel is inserted through the hole... The top of the key can be a design that will look good on the lateran. The key has to be able to turn.. Turn the key one way and the bottom tab is parallel to the side and the top can be lifted off, turn the key handle perpendicular to the to the side and the tab at the bottom of the key slips under lip at the top of the wall.. holding the lid on... What do you think? here is my formal drawing.... When I build one,,, I am going to try something like this.
  10. Steve has two top ornament sizes in his plans, tall and short. Which did you make for yours? His picture shows the tall one, I'm hoping someone makes it with the short one so I can compare... I'm thinking of making a few of these as my annual Christmas decorations I give a few relatives.... Think of adding maybe some scroll sawed holly or ribbon to the top or bottom to make it more Christmasy. Buy the time I price the wood and candles,, I may decide the relatives aren't worth it...
  11. Maybe something like this, with an insert/nut to screw into... May have to glue a tab of wood on the inside or outside of the lantern for the insert to fit in. You can get this pretty small sizes I think.
  12. Great job!!
  13. Nice job....
  14. Glad you got it fix and yes Ray Seyco, is a great guy.... I have purchased two saws from him over the years because of it... Advanced Machinery that sell Hegner are equal in their customer service... Thanks for posting what you found out.. It will help someone else along the way.
  15. You did a great job!! Be sure and send him pictures so he can post them on his site. I have done several of his patterns have many more in my library. May never get most of them done. I have the Cremona Clock front and sides done.... need to get back to it. http://www.finescrollsaw.com/cremona-wall-clock.htm
  16. No way around it, wood is now expensive and so is shipping.... That is a beautiful stack.. Is it for intarsia? I think I have one board left that I ordered years ago. I love working with it.
  17. I think it is a Steve Good Pattern. https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/ search giraffe... free
  18. Okay,, I am confused as to what I saw/wrote. It has been bothering me that I stated that Cherokee wanted twice as much for Butternut wood than Ocooch.. I kept thinking about it and just did not feel right about what I said. I decided to check again and went back to Cherokee to check... I did not see that they even had Butternut or Monkey Pod. So I guess please pay no attention to what I said... The wood I ordered came from Ocooch... It is beautiful but I certainly do not want to give false info on Cherokee Wood.. Ocooch and Cherokee are usually close in price... Where I find Ocooch a little cheaper is in the shipping.. even though they are a great deal farther from me than Cherokee..
  19. WOW! Jim afforded some great patterns and you did a great job with them...
  20. A lot younger,,,, I turned 77,,,, I think, in February,, I think,,,, probably should verify that with my wife... I get confused with algebra... You want her email address.. to ask? she doesn't talk to me much anymore.. sorry.. I have had 2 maybe 3 glasses of wine since dinner. or was that bottles..?? Just kidding.
  21. Really,,, how long are those 24" pieces..... think a minute... don't ask again too quickly!!
  22. Yes,,, Definition of project 1: a specific plan or design Yes,, I do them occasionally... Just slowly working through the list I have.. sure hope I live and am active until I am at least 132 or I will never complete them all!!! Woozle Bird is going very slowly.. What am I going to make..... well sawdust! For one, I have a picture I want to cut again.. I did it once and give it to a dear friend... I want to do it again,,, for me.. and for my kids to add to the burn pile they always talk to me about... why do they hate me so,,I was a sorta good father,, I didn't beat them and I didn't drink,,, back then. But I always loved the pattern from issue 60 of SSW page 47 called "Tawny Eagle" Alway thought I would do it again.. now I well. I also want to make the intarsia birds from SSW #78 front cover...and I want to do a Marquetry background for them... Looks good in my head,,, but who knows what will happen. .. See I have planed projects.. it is just that my old brain seems to scramble some of them..
  23. Never heard of that kind of art before.... I like it and you did a great job..
  24. No, it is Ocooch.... I priced it out and one, Cherokee did not have Monkey Pod and Two the Butternut was almost twice as expensive at Cherokee.. The trade off is... I have had no problem with Cherokee wood cupping,, I have had that with Ocooch wood... That is why I stacked it as it is shown and it will sit there for at least two weeks..
