You don't have that big motor handing off the back of the newer saws. A 21' with stand I think would take up no more, probably less room than that beauty... -

I love this one. I did it a couple years ago, not as pretty of a job as you have done. I had the dragon holding a glass ball. Not sure why, but it seemed appropriate at the time. You really did a great job on yours...

A few days ago @Badgerboy posted some Steve Good Valentine boxes he had made. I really liked them, and decided to make one for my wife. I'm not late, just finished it today. I did mine a little different than the pattern. First I increased the size of the pattern to 140%. Second, in order to save me some time sanding, I changed the way the lid fits on. In the pattern, the lid is attached to an outside wall that fit down over an inside wall that is attached to the bottom. Least that is the way I understood the pattern. Mine is Purple Heart and Oak. I don't have a DeWalt but watched that.. Good video and makes even non- DeWalt owners a little more familiar with these types of saws. Excalibur, Seyco, King, etc., are similar configuration.

I was just asked by my son yesterday if I had a couple pictures of my messy shop. I sent these to him. I agree with Karl! Mine is actually in my basement, about the size of a one car garage. I love it, has outside door, restroom, close by computer/TV room, close by refrig.... temp controlled year around,,,,,,, sexy calendar on the wall,,,,,, and my wife wants to move!!!@!

Welcome to the forum. Marquetry, is really fascinating to me and something I would really like to work at some day. You might check into the American Marquetry Assoc. http://www.americanmarquetrysociety.com/index.html there may be members that live near you. I know you do not need a lot of big woodworking tools to do it.

@Oscar Myer, just a suggestion, I think more people would see you above post if you started a new thread. A lot of people will not read to the end of this thread. I can not answer your question on DeWalt maintenance, I had one but that was several years ago. I do not think you need to be too concerned about having to change in the near future, if you take reasonable care of your DeWalt. There may be more DeWalts in use that other scroll saws, and they keep a good resale value... Very popular saw.

I like these, but anyone that has owned a Dobie, knows that he/she does not own you he/s lives to serve you....least that was my experience with them. The Standard Poodle,,,, on the other hand, yes, we are definitely owned by one as well as she owns the other cat and dog also,,,, in fact she thinks she owns the whole neighborhood!!!!!!
